I’ve actually been thinking, why did God actually take the Israeli out of the land they where before and moved them to the supposed promise land.

Looking at the land, God decided to give them the most barren land in the Middle East. No oil, No good soil for agriculture. Indirectly God gave them the most useless land amongst the Middle East

My question goes thus. what is the significance of the promise land?

Who told you it was a useless land? A land that God says flows with milk and honey?

You're looking and judging it with your physical senses, that is why you can't see but the land is filled with abundance like God actually promised in his word.

God actually took them out of Egypt because they cried out to God in their suffering and He heard them. Also because they were under slavery in Egypt and God needed to bless them and wanted them to worship Him freely as that was not possible in Egypt then.

Please, the land is not useless.

OP go and read Deuteronomy 8:7-20 and Deuteronomy 11:10-25. After that you will know the significance of promise land.

N/B:The bible called the land a GOOD LAND.

There’s nothing special about the land. What is exactly is the milk and honey. Maybe you should stop speaking figuratively and speak to me in layman’s term

There is nothing figurative here. It's a spiritual thing and you can't reason or understand the spiritual from the the human or physical angle which makes it difficult for you to handle or accept. Pray that the Holy spirit opens your spiritual eyes of understanding to get the picture clearly here.

Shalom.

Oga go and read the chapters and verses giving to you up there, so you won't be arguing unnecessarily.

Go for knowledge...

The answer is there in the Bible but it takes great meditation to figure out answers to life's most difficult and most important questions from God's word!
He (God) said "That they may worship me" Exodus 5:1
The next question (if you truly care to know) is what are the benefits of WORSHIP?
Thanks! smiley

Deuteronomy 8:7-20
King James Version
7 For the Lord thy God bringeth thee into a good land, a land of brooks of water, of fountains and depths that spring out of valleys and hills;

8 A land of wheat, and barley, and vines, and fig trees, and pomegranates; a land of oil olive, and honey;

9 A land wherein thou shalt eat bread without scarceness, thou shalt not lack any thing in it; a land whose stones are iron, and out of whose hills thou mayest dig brass.

10 When thou hast eaten and art full, then thou shalt bless the Lord thy God for the good land which he hath given thee.

11 Beware that thou forget not the Lord thy God, in not keeping his commandments, and his judgments, and his statutes, which I command thee this day:

12 Lest when thou hast eaten and art full, and hast built goodly houses, and dwelt therein;

13 And when thy herds and thy flocks multiply, and thy silver and thy gold is multiplied, and all that thou hast is multiplied;

14 Then thine heart be lifted up, and thou forget the Lord thy God, which brought thee forth out of the land of Egypt, from the house of bondage;

15 Who led thee through that great and terrible wilderness, wherein were fiery serpents, and scorpions, and drought, where there was no water; who brought thee forth water out of the rock of flint;

16 Who fed thee in the wilderness with manna, which thy fathers knew not, that he might humble thee, and that he might prove thee, to do thee good at thy latter end;

17 And thou say in thine heart, My power and the might of mine hand hath gotten me this wealth.

18 But thou shalt remember the Lord thy God: for it is he that giveth thee power to get wealth, that he may establish his covenant which he sware unto thy fathers, as it is this day.

19 And it shall be, if thou do at all forget the Lord thy God, and walk after other gods, and serve them, and worship them, I testify against you this day that ye shall surely perish.

20 As the nations which the Lord destroyeth before your face, so shall ye perish; because ye would not be obedient unto the voice of the Lord your God.

Deuteronomy 11:10-25
King James Version
10 For the land, whither thou goest in to possess it, is not as the land of Egypt, from whence ye came out, where thou sowedst thy seed, and wateredst it with thy foot, as a garden of herbs:

11 But the land, whither ye go to possess it, is a land of hills and valleys, and drinketh water of the rain of heaven:

12 A land which the Lord thy God careth for: the eyes of the Lord thy God are always upon it, from the beginning of the year even unto the end of the year.

13 And it shall come to pass, if ye shall hearken diligently unto my commandments which I command you this day, to love the Lord your God, and to serve him with all your heart and with all your soul,

14 That I will give you the rain of your land in his due season, the first rain and the latter rain, that thou mayest gather in thy corn, and thy wine, and thine oil.

15 And I will send grass in thy fields for thy cattle, that thou mayest eat and be full.

16 Take heed to yourselves, that your heart be not deceived, and ye turn aside, and serve other gods, and worship them;

17 And then the Lord's wrath be kindled against you, and he shut up the heaven, that there be no rain, and that the land yield not her fruit; and lest ye perish quickly from off the good land which the Lord giveth you.

18 Therefore shall ye lay up these my words in your heart and in your soul, and bind them for a sign upon your hand, that they may be as frontlets between your eyes.

19 And ye shall teach them your children, speaking of them when thou sittest in thine house, and when thou walkest by the way, when thou liest down, and when thou risest up.

20 And thou shalt write them upon the door posts of thine house, and upon thy gates:

21 That your days may be multiplied, and the days of your children, in the land which the Lord sware unto your fathers to give them, as the days of heaven upon the earth.

22 For if ye shall diligently keep all these commandments which I command you, to do them, to love the Lord your God, to walk in all his ways, and to cleave unto him;

23 Then will the Lord drive out all these nations from before you, and ye shall possess greater nations and mightier than yourselves.

24 Every place whereon the soles of your feet shall tread shall be yours: from the wilderness and Lebanon, from the river, the river Euphrates, even unto the uttermost sea shall your coast be.

25 There shall no man be able to stand before you: for the Lord your God shall lay the fear of you and the dread of you upon all the land that ye shall tread upon, as he hath said unto you.

Life is about the journey...Not the destination. .it is a journey from Egypt (ignorance ) to the promised land (spiritual enlightenment)..it is expected that at age 40, you should have been there..if you are 40 or over and still believe in the literal interpretation of written words , my dear you are still in Egypt.....God has been sending moses here and everywhere else to free our mind from religious indoctrination , but most people are so comfortable in Egypt.....they like the slave masters wipe and suffering...

Think, use your brain, it was never given to you as a decoration. It is the first app known to man..USE IT.

MISHIGAS!

Speaking against The Institutions of God never ends well. Read the Scriptures for yourself, and watch your words.

The Children of Y'srael never received their full inheritance, which is all of the land from the East Nile to the West Euphrates.

It is important that you stop calling the Ancient Hebrew Y'sraelites "ISRAELIS." The people calling themselves "JEWS" are not descendants of the Hebrews of The Bible. Their Ancestors were never in the EXODUS, they were never inhabitants of The Promised Land.

They come from a land called KHAZARIA, whose king BULAN, ordered their conversion to JUDAISM in the 9th Century.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bulan_(Khazar)

[See: THE PROTOCOLS OF THE LEARNED ELDERS OF ZION.
THE INTERNATIONAL JEW: The World's Most Foremost Problem, by Henry Ford.
THE THIRTEENTH TRIBE, by Arthur Koestler.
THE INVENTION OF THE JEWISH PEOPLE, by Shlomo Sand.]

These are Oyinbo Gentile usurpers and impostors.

The real legitimate inhabitants of The Land of Y'srael were BLACKS. IGBOS appear to be descendants of GAD, who escaped from KEMET before the Exodus.

CONGOLESE BANTU and GHANAIAN ASHANTI also appear to be Y'sraelite descendants who escaped into the sub-Sahara after the Fall of Yasharaylim in 70AD.

There are other such tribes.

American Activists (not all absolutely reliable,) claim that Black Hebrew Y'sraelites were specifically targeted during the infamous TransAtlantic Slave Trade.

There is evidence supporting this claim.

It is believed by them that they will one day return to their Ancestral Lands, rightfully given them by God, according to His Promise to Abraham to give his descendants by Yssak his son, all the lands through which he had wandered.

The Israelites of then are like the modern West African Fulani today. Land grabbers and murderers who carried out genocide on the original inhabitants of Canaan and took over their land.

That's the story.

They only tried to give it some legality by claiming that "God gave us the land". It's nothing but a pure land grab.

I'm one of God's servants so i know exactly what you're trying to do from the onset, but it's only the misinformed Churchgoers that your knowledge can ridicule with their false gods. If you come to God's true servants you'll be amazed at how much we can school you! smiley

It's obvious you only carry Atheism in your mind just as the Catholics of those days and Muslims does back then. They're so filled with rage that even when they come in contact with someone who is ready to reason with them they won't give the person any chance but they're bent on forcing their opinion down the throat of others!

If you're ready for reasoning i'm around, this is not about arguing in support of some dogmatic setting, pure worship comes with lots and lots of benefits for adherents, unbelievers are like losers if it's well analysed! smiley

I don't want to say it's a comprehension thing because we understand things differently.
That is why I try to bring it down to a layman level!
First bro, answer these questions

1. Where the Israelites comfortable in Egypt?

2. What was their position in Egypt at the time?

3. Are they indigenous people of Egypt before the promise?

Also have in mind an infamous quote of " to slaves, life is death and death is freedom".

Just reasoning with you.
