Good morning Everyone.

So I got an admission to Claremont graduate University California for fall 2022 but it seems I will have to defer till 2023 or try another school. I wanted a full funding with stipend but I only got a fellowship award on my COA for about $10,000 and recently got another option to apply for $5,000 scholar award. The issue is the fees is still high(over $50k), I cannot afford it and I don't want to use loan. I messaged my GA but he said I cannot apply for assistantship until after my first semester.

Another alternative suggested by my friend is to come in and change my school to a much lesser one which I can afford. I don't know if anyone has some knowledge about this.

I would also like to request for links to schools that offer full funding and I don't mind waiting till 2023 to get this.

Hello beautiful people,

I ended up having only 1 successful application despite making attempts to 2 other school but I didnt complete it.
I got an offer from this school(KSU) for Msc. Aerospace Engineering, unfortunately they won't be giving any assistantship position to any student this sem, therefore, I am directed to apply as a self funded Student. Total cost is $42,025/year about N18m
Please I need clarity on the questions below.

1. It is okay if the balance of my account reflect 20M?
2. Will i be submitting this same SOA at the embassy? Or i have to update it before going for visa application. School resumes Aug.
3. My mum will be the sponsor, should i submit her personal SOA or her business SOA(earing the name of her business)

This is all I need to know for now, thanks for the help.
Bro, I don't want you to take what I'm about to tell you the wrong way, it is wholly based on my experience being here in the states.

Anything that deals with the aviation/aeronautics/aerospace industry in the US is highly regulated and it might be a bit challenging for international students to break into such industry due to several clauses bothering around defense contract with the American government. These clauses do not allow internationals apply for positions including internships, if you aren't a citizen or a PR, your application is trashed. This is of you intend to work in the Aviation industry, but if you want to lecture, then by all means go ahead.

Now, I might be wrong, other people with more insight can add their contribution. I'd advise you go the Mechanical/Mechatronics/Controls path. All the best.

Good morning all.

Please I need help. My interview is in about 7 working days time.

Still looking for what I can present as strong home/work tie.

I'm an F2. Hubby left for study in January. We're just 10 months married.

My work experience is not encouraging at all.

Finished B.Sc 2010
Finished MPH 2015

Taught in secondary schools for like 3 years.

Volunteered in a public health NGO for 1 year.

But now, I'm self employed. I do bead works. That's my main job. However, on the side, I teach mathematics private lessons to students & I'm also an Admin staff for my husband's start up biz.

What exactly can I put down to reflect work ties among all of these disjointed pieces that are not even related to my course of Study?

I have an offer from Virginia Tech, I am being considered for GA funding and the Grad coord informed me GA funding (covers 50% of tuition with stipend) will be released in July and my program starts in August. COA is 50k.

Because of time, should I use my personal fund and my dad as a sponsor to get my i-20 and also for sevis fee and start looking for an appointment date or wait till the GA funding list is out before starting the visa processing?

Please advise.

Thank you.

Congratulations. However, not sure why you have to hide name of the school. 2 years ago, I made a solo effort in searching and applying to schools for the same program you going for. All the schools I applied to didn’t offer any form of assistantship/scholarship. The closest I got was a waitlist (Kansas State University). The only school that offered me funding was the school (Texas Tech) a gentleman on this platform suggested. I eventually met him sometimes this year at Texas to personally thank him for the suggestions.

There is no big deal mentioning name of school hommie. America is very big and fit enough to accommodate all and sundry. You might eventually get to the so called department and make a detour in your major or possibly transfer. As I speak there are 3 Nigerians in my department and according to my prof. 3 more are expected to arrive this fall. MA/Phd Political science is “lucrative” and quite promising in the States. You might eventually like the drill that comes with the program or otherwise. Share information necessary for others to gain; transcripts are getting too cliche nowadays, the information like name of schools, funding etc is what that matters- not your conversation with the VO!!

Nonetheless, congratulations and wish you the best.

My oga at the top.
I greet you.
By faith I hope to join you in TTU come fall.
Mind if I send a pm for guidance and other assistance?

your home ties should be social and economic ties. your social ties can come from the NGO where you volunteered and you can ask them for a letter as evidence, while your economic ties should be your business and your hubby's start up. hope this help a little

Leave it or take the guy might be harsh with is response but how many people have you seen got visa approval to college.

I just came across this. I understand the guy’s point of view. I believe it’s coming from plane of ignorance. Community colleges are not mushroom schools. I know about 12 Nigerians that came into the US through the CC system. It works, just not for everybody.

Thanks for this, I'm switching from arts to science and can't get a direct masters because my first degree is in arts/humanities. So I intend taking an associate degree in artificial intelligence as a prerequisite.

About the last part, yes you can change to another if you come with one but make sure you have your admission in that other school then you can transfer your SEVIS from the current school to the new one

Yes good point. Just like NASA for example. A student was recommended for NASA internship by the department but she had to reject because she's not a citizen
