From what I know, Lucifer was a musician who would wake all the angels in the morning and play for them before they went to sleep. (I guess that made him a herald of some sort, he probably had other duties but I don't know them) This led him to feel that he should be in head of the angels and heaven, i.e. God, because the angels rose and fell at his command.

When he attempted to seize the throne of God he was defeated and cast out, along with his supporters, into a lake of fire and brimstone, a.k.a. Hell. Lucifer still wants to be God, so he tries his best to wrest people's faith in God away from them so they will end up in hell with him.

1. Satan is a Cherubim, not an angel (Ezek 28:14 kjv) “Thou art the anointed cherub that covereth; and I have set thee so.” He was the 5th cherub, and was in charge of the other 4 cherubims. That’s why he has wings, angels don’t have wings. (See Ezek 1:10; 10:14, Rev 4:7 kjv). He represents the Ox/calf. That’s why the devil has horns. When the Jews made their first idol after they left Egypt, it was a golden calf. Meaning they picked that idea originally from Egypt. The devil desires to be worshipped.

2. Satan was in charge of the earth. The angels which are the sons of God were with him on earth too. They were singing to God. (Job 38:6-7 kjv) “Whereupon are the foundations thereof fastened? or who laid the corner stone thereof; When the morning stars sang together, and all the sons of God shouted for joy?”

3. You were right about him being a musician. (Ezek 28:13 kjv) “the workmanship of thy tabrets and of thy pipes was prepared in thee in the day that thou wast created.” Tabrets and pipes are musical instrument. Now you know how devil blesses worldly musicians.

4. You were right also about him trying to covet God’s work and position. (Ezek 28:15 kjv) “Thou wast perfect in thy ways from the day that thou wast created, till iniquity was found in thee.” The iniquity that was found in him is in (Isa 14:12-14 kjv).

5. There was never a battle between him and God. God simply drowned the earth with the angels that the devil deceived to join him (2 Pet 3:5-7 kjv) “ For this they willingly are ignorant of, that by the word of God the heavens were of old, and the earth standing out of the water and in the water: Whereby the world that then was, being overflowed with water, perished: But the heavens and the earth, which are now, by the same word are kept in store, reserved unto fire against the day of judgment and perdition of ungodly men.” That explains the Genesis gap (Gen 1:1-2). Then God created a new Earth where He put Adam in the garden to replace the devil. Satan wants that crown back, that’s why he deceived Adam through Eve. So man lost it, and fell.

6. The casting hasn’t happened yet. The devil will be cast into the lake of fire after the millennial reign of Christ. (Rev 20:7-10 kjv) “And when the thousand years are expired, Satan shall be loosed out of his prison, And shall go out to deceive the nations which are in the four quarters of the earth, Gog, and Magog, to gather them together to battle: the number of whom is as the sand of the sea. And they went up on the breadth of the earth, and compassed the camp of the saints about, and the beloved city: and fire came down from God out of heaven, and devoured them. And the devil that deceived them was cast into the lake of fire and brimstone, where the beast and the false prophet are, and shall be tormented day and night for ever and ever.”
