Yoruba ain't the only language spoken in Nigeria so please, you guys should learn how to pronounce other tribe's name.

I remember when I was serving in Aba.

The Ibo people there find it so hard to pronounce yoruba names like Moyosore and Damilola. grin

Even when I called register then, my student will laugh hard at how I pronounce their names. Especially the surname, it became so bad that I had to call their first name which was mostly in English.

It's something all tribes face. Don't make tribalism out of it.

Why don't you give yourself an English name.

Igbo names sound somehow, some can remove your teeth something like Fuji merenge or chukwumerije or Anyanwu, Onwubiko, okoronkwo, things like that.
Yoruba dey spoil names sha! grin grin grin

Joonu for John, Saamu for Samuel; Lamidi for Ahmed, Asani for Hassan , Mala for Mallam etc.

Igbos also have the same fault, no one tribe is perfect while calling other tribe's names. The pathetic ones are news casters, I think these should learn, as part of their work as professionals. They are to enlighten the rest of us by correctly pronouncing names not only of persons but places.

Most Igbos don't know how to pronounce Yoruba names correctly too.
It has to do with intonation.

Igbo's also interchange R for L and L for R.

instead of pronouncing Robbery, you'll hear lobbery.

Runner= lunner
Leather= Reather
etc....

In core north F is mistaken for P, and vice versa.

people= feeful
Fish= pish..

The three popular tribes have their loop holes in terms of pronunciation of some words.
