1. The big question is why Govts around the world haven’t passed laws or taken some other actions to ensure Social Media companies TAKE FULL RESPONSIBILITY for allowing FALSE & UNCENSORED materials on their platforms that promote racism, social & political unrest around the globe

2. If the Social Media companies must avoid responsibility, the solution is to ensure that EVERY SM account can only be opened or operate if it’s registered with a Nat. I.D number and photograph that correspond with those in govts database so that we eliminate anonymous accounts

It so pathetic to see a one time pro-democracy and human activist talk like this now that he belongs to the other side.

It all boils down to one thing; he had always been Pro-His-Own-Belly all along

Gone are days when one would be called IPOB and it feels like an insult, this Government has actually made IPOB(ESN) feel like a better alternative to some security agencies through nepotism and misfits.

Lol, Oga Festus, I am highly disappointed in you... You're a brilliant lawyer - a SAN for that matter! ... So you should know better that this is an invitation to Fascism...

That side, KYC verification as a requirement to join social media platforms may backfire as bad actors will use the opportunity to harvest valuable information of their unsuspecting members; and then what follows is better imagined... Can't imagine my NIN or BVN or any other vital info in the hands of one random guy, just because he's an admin... Even the few 'less important' ones they have, I am complaining, yet someone is suggesting I should give them my 'Nat. ID' and 'passport' Lol... I never trust the system reach that extent... cheesy

Not to mention the other many disadvantages... Lol..

Anyway, I am in support of the idea that the social media should be regulated... Including the powers of admins and their moderators.. If we don't want a government we voted for to unlawfully censor our 'free speech', why should we allow a random moderator of a public Forum?

Lol...

God bless Nigeria.

Why does the Nigerian government love chasing shadows?

The most basic responsibility of the government to its people as captured in the first statements of the constitution is welfare and security which the government doesn't give a care about

Now, they're busying themselves with policing everybody's opinion on social media which they didn't or cannot create or manage themselves.

Yeye dey smell

What's tha business?

Keyamo is actually right. Take away your partisanship and put on your thinking caps.

A lot of you want to run to Europe and USA but you fail to realise that what is being demanded from Social media companies is same thing USA has implemented years ago via their SSN (Social security number).

All of that goes through a proper identification process before you are issued one so once you commit a crime you can be easily located.

Same thing Keyamo is advocating for so anonymity would be erased and those behind terror or error social media posts can be properly addressed

Two similarities between this man and Nnamdi Kanu:

1. They both are senseless
2. They both have a following of fools

Two difference between this man and Nnamdi Kanu

1. One is black the other is Yellow
2. One talks nonsense and gets paid, the other talks nonsense and gets chased like an animal.
