The Catholic Church as well as the Igbo people today lost a living legend. It was reported amidst tears that the founder of Tasian University and a priest of God, Professor Monsignor Johnbosco Akam today, 5th of February succumbed to the cold hands of death.

Before his death, Very Rev. Msgr. Prof John Bosco Akam was a man of irrepressible talents who has made invaluable contributions to the history of humanity; a quintessential educationist, philanthropist, philosopher, theologian and industrialist; a strong and reliable think-tank who has leveraged the collective intelligence of forward-thinking educators, literacy leaders, technology developers and authors of this new age.




He was a distinguished Professor of Philosophy and a Catholic Priest. For all who know Prof. Msgr.Akam, he was an academic guru and acolossus, yet coming from a humble cradle.
John Bosco Uchechukwu Ndubeze Nwachinaemere Ugiriejiemeaku Akam was born on 15th August 1947 to the family of late Mazi Pius Ogbuagu and Monica Ugodiya Akam of Oka Village, Uga in Aguata Local Government Area of Anambra State.

Very Reverend Monsignor Professor John-Bosco Akam also touched many lives. He empowered nearly 2,000 indigents but brilliant students through award of free education from Nursery, Primary, Secondary to University.



He was the Founder, Chancellor and Chairman, Board of Trustees, Tansian University, Umunya. Monsignor Akam was also Founder of the famous Konigin Des Friedens College, (KFC), Enugu as well as the Founder, Our Lady of Waldenstein Educational Centre, Uga.
Very Reverend Monsignor Professor John Bosco Uchechukwu Akam also founded Lumen Radio. He was a man of rare intelligence, an orator, an ecclesiastical edifice, a philanthropist of the first order, a great teacher of faith and morals, a great mentor to the youths and a living legend. Monsignor Akam has received various local, national and international awards.

As at the time of this report, the cause of his death is yet to be made public. May his gentle soul Rest In Peace, Amen
