The question we should be asking is why doesn't the Nigerian government have the right equipment for this test?. It is shameful Nigeria can openly claim we do not have the capacity hence UAE should accept what we can offer. Not all countries joke with their public health as we do.

Well this is how to know a responsive government, immediately UAE extended the ban on Nigeria then Nigeria govt should come up with a statement that they must refund those that they issued visa that it might expire as a result of there ban.

Some Nigerians and their nauseating braggadocio, one would be forced to think Nigeria has a trillion dollars GDP and GDP per capita of $40K+. dUbAi iS iNsUlTiNg nIgErIaNs! When there were news of fake Covid-19 results from federal clinics, what did you say? When there were incidents of people travelling after obtaining altered results from hospitals in Nigeria for as low as 25K, what did you say? Then, why should the UAE, a major travel spot for Nigerians allow such people unhindered access? How much do Nigerians even contribute the to UAE sef that you are shouting?

If you had an event centre which is currently open to the public of which the entrants must present a Covid-19 test result prior to entry, you later discover that a particular set of people are presenting altered results, what will you do to safeguard your workers and centre's reputation? You mentioned offering tests upon landing in Dubai, fine. Unfortunately, because Nigerians are poor people whose contributions are negligible compared to Europeans or Indians, she can decide to impose her own rules even to the extent of employing other Africans to test Nigerians (before you begin to chant eMiRaTiS aRe rAcIsTs). At the bold, the UAE cannot be responsible for Nigeria's irresponsibility. Are you responsible for your neighbour's irresponsibility in ensuring his children obey him? Why should it be different with the UAE? Hold Abuja not Abu Dhabi responsible. You have two options: do not travel to the UAE or obey her rules. You cannot dictate to another country let alone a richer one as a citizen from the country with the highest number of people what to do. It is not done anywhere.

In summary, Nigerians - same folks who went to the UAE on day one only to break into a gold store on day three - are inherently dishonest and nefarious set of people. Why is she not doing same to Kenyans? Ghanaians? South Africans?

Rubbish. Dubai stand to lose more if Nigeria govt has the guts to retaliate. What does Emirates do for Nigeria? On the other hand, Nigerians spend millions there.

If that were the case, the UAE won't do what she did. So, because of some infinitesimal number of tourists who I bet don't spend over 5K dollars in entire spending per trip, the UAE should overlook Nigeria's corrupt acts in issuing Covid-19 results?

It's the braggadocio that gets pissed up. If Nigerians in the UAE are so economically important, how come there's no Nigerian who has gotten permanent residency status like Indians, Brits and Pakistanis? You people overrate your economic importance.

UAE can act this inconsiderately because they understand that Nigeria is hamstrung often by sentimental block interest within Nigeria. There appear to be a hierarchy among Muslim Nations to do with Islamic traditions or beliefs, which I don’t understand, but observe. Nations with predominantly black Muslims seem somehow beholding to Islamic nations inhabited by paler peoples such as Saudi Arabia, UAE etc. Islamic block interest in Nigeria prevents Nigeria from retaliating against the UAE as Nigeria should. Should Nigeria reacts too strongly UAE would take this as an affront and it would be as if and insult shared by the powerful white Arab world. Nigeria in truth gains nothing beneficial from UAE but UAE benefits from Nigerian holidaying and shopping there.

Well, Nigerians not Emiratis are the ones whining about the ban.

Sorry but poor countries shouldn't be boastful. It's the attitude that made the UAE to ban flights from Nigeria. If countries must boast, they should be rich. Respect is earned not dashed. No one disrespects a rich person.

Everything boils to economics. Which black dominated country with a sizeable Muslim population is rich? You think if Nigeria was as rich as South Korea, they'd ban us? There is no consequence for the UAE to ban flights from Nigeria because Nigerians are very poor and largely inconsequential in the greater scheme of things. No one disrespects a rich person.

BTW, how come same UAE isn't doing same to Ghanaians, South Africans, Kenyans etc? How come none of you has condemned the criminal activities by Nigerians in issuing fake Covid-19 results?

The UAE loses a lot more than Nigeria does, because those dollars going to Dubai are on a one-way ticket to be spent.

You don't seem to understand what the issue at stake is: Emirates Airlines are requiring rapid antigen tests from some organizations which are not authorized by the Nigerian government.

So because you're a developing nation some rich snob should come and do as they please?

And you people want nigeria to be better?

Please!

To the UAE, those dollars are negligible considering the risk of Covid-19 spreading in the country. Why should dollars from the country with the highest number of poor people in the world be more important than Covid-19 spreading, thus scaring other tourists - way richer than Nigerians - away?

The issue is that Nigerians used fake Covid-19 results to enter the country. Isn't that a criminal act? Why is the same penalty not applicable to Ghana or Kenya? Why have you not condemned Abuja for being incompetent regarding the issue and Nigerians who try to export their criminal acts to lawful countries? You think the UAE is Liberia or some backwater country?

Oh yes! It's the reality. Poorer countries don't have the right to dictate to richer nations how to do things. A poor person doesn't dictate to a rich person what to do, it's not done anywhere. If you really desire that Nigeria stands up to the UAE shoulder to shoulder, tell Nigerian elites to ensure the country becomes rich like South Korea. Let's see how the country and her citizens will be bullied. Ask China, no one bullies a rich country and goes scot free. The UAE - way way richer than Nigeria - can bully Nigeria and nothing will happen.

Yes, I do. Nigeria is in tit-for-tat with UAE so UAE is being political although using the Covid stuff as cover. Nigeria isn’t fully committed to the brinkmanship since Nigeria is governed by a Muslim, the life activities of many wealthy and influential northern Muslim Nigerians is limited to the Arab world and to these people the White Arab world is also senior in religious terms. Besides of this, UAE is more able to count on the tacit support of Arab world unlike Nigeria that has no support from black nations because black nations are weak and riven by petty jealousies, bickering and crab mentality – such as you’ve just exhibited by mentioning inconsequential Ghana and Kenya in the same breath as Nigeria.

Although, in this instance, Kenya is more relevant since Kenya like Nigeria has rooted Islamic World ties

So, yeah, UAE has nothing to offer Nigeria that Nigeria cannot get elsewhere if Nigeria decides to set aside the relevance of UAE in the Islamic sense and place where Wealthy Nigerian Muslims as well as other Nigerians go to holiday or and buy stuff.

I don't think you've a clue what you're on about.

The UAE depends on tourism dollars for their economy to thrive and you're discounting nigerian dollars. You think a shopkeeper hates money from less wealthy customers?

You also think just because nigeria is not as rich, she should let the UAE decide local policy in violation of our sovereignty?
