sosowater: English Language should be Taught in a Single CLASS, like every other CLASS of Foreign Languages. Other Subjects should better be Taught in Mother Languages be it Hausa, Igbos or Nupe. |
Re: The Largest Mega Primary School In Borno State (Photos) by P1PrinceKT(m): 12:24pm On Feb 21, 2021 |
Hollawayn05: Pls Oga , wether you like it or Not English should better be Taught in a Separate/Single CLASS like any Other Foreign Languages. If WAEC can Type HAUSA in SSCE as a separate EXAM as well as Igbo how do you think they can't write other subjects in That Language. You need to Get out Of BOX for this country to move forward........... |

It's a good and a welcome development. However, I wish and hope that there's some arrangements and planning on maintenance culture for this huge building already in place.. if not , it will be like pouring out water on bare floor. |

very nice to see... this should be the standard, but because the big cities and towns as we all know are over crowded and there is little space to build like this. personally I don't see why parents take their children/wards to schools without sporting facilities.. when did we hear of inter-house sports competitions? Thumbs up to zulum! |

Hollawayn05:Man, North is too diverse, too vast for u to give her such collective definition. The learning approach varies from one state to another, from one community to another even within a LG. How can u go to Borno and teach students in Hausa when Hausas in Borno are just like Hausas in Yoruba or Igbo land. Though most people in North-East speak Hausa but many will struggle to comprehend things in Hausa which is better to be taught in English by considering the multiculture of the region, In only Gombe there are more than 50 ethnic groups. Ask those who attended Universities in the north they'll tell u more abt the North. One thing u should know is, Northerners hate language of subjugation and exploitation that is why they don't like English at all. Why should someone be proud of foreign language, by the way the number of graduates North have are enough for her administrative and educational requirements for governance, research, development to drive the need of the region. Attending school without learning good English will still add a lot to their lives. 1 Like |

Hollawayn05:insanity is when people don't appreciate good things no matter what. People like you can't do well even as Local Government councilors. The truth is that the man has started with infrastructure, as an educationist, he knows what next to do. Arm chair critic stay there and keep going down. |

Hollawayn05:I get ur point fully having served there several years ago. It's quite frustrating indeed when u re willing to teach and u can't express ur self due to language barrier. I remembered asking a question in class and one student struggled to speak English which was very terrible but ended up being a celebrity of the class. You needed to see how he was applauded by his mate. Education in d north is indeed terrible. If things were to be done base on merit in this country, trust me this quys would be no were to be found for any key position 1 Like |

uuzba: What of India? Not everybody speaks Hindi in India. They all have their regional languages, people in Karnataka speaks and teaches their students in Karnada. You can look for excuses if you want, and you will always find one. No one is saying we should remove English, Spanish or French from our curriculum, we can teach people in our mother’s tongue and still learn to speak and write in these foreign languages. |
Re: The Largest Mega Primary School In Borno State (Photos) by ponziponzi(m): 1:57pm On Feb 21, 2021 |
Funflipper: Yeah and that’s a problem. Even with this English we speak, it is still not considered our first language by everyone else In the world. |

CamusMidas:The authorities are made up of only one person I suppose. Besides, are you even considering the fact that there are over 500 spoken languages in Nigeria? Many of which are not even written. That's over 500 "one-man authorities" you're setting up o. You've conveniently ignored the worsening state of our schools, the welfare of the teachers and all other factors that are necessary for effective teaching and learning only to criticize the same English language that was used to teach the likes of Prof. Wole Soyinka, Prof. Chike Obi, Chinua Achebe, Sanusi Lamido, Ngozi Okonjo Iweala, Jelani Aliyu, the millions of Nigerians out there who are contributing in their own little way and even you yourself. |

emorse:Are you okay? Criticized which English? Do you expect the white man to teach those prof in Yoruba or Igbo? We are taking about major language and all are talking about 500 spoken language, who in their right mind will ever suggest that? We can easily translate the bible and preach the gospel using the major languages, what's your excuse again. It would cost alot and take much resources but it can be done and people would be more productive. Nelson Mandela once wrote, "if you speak to a man in the language he understands it goes to his head, speak to him in his own language and it goes to his heart". |

CamusMidas:Will you be civil and argue like a matured person or should I just ignore you henceforth? Criticized which English? Do you expect the white man to teach those prof in Yoruba or Igbo? The white men taught them in English language at a time when the use of English didn't enjoy as much coverage as it does now yet they understood. Why is the language a problem now? We are taking about major language and all are talking about 500 spoken language, who in their right mind will ever suggest that?@the bolded. If you ask me.... By the way, do you mean we do not have minority Nigerians who do not understand any of the major languages? What becomes of them? We can easily translate the bible and preach the gospel using the major languages, what's your excuse again. At whose expense? For whose benefit? How does that affect the Nigerian economy? It would cost alot and take much resources but it can be done and people would be more productive.I struggle to see how. You can speak whatever language you like but for teaching and learning to take place, it would take much more than that. Nelson Mandela once wrote, "if you speak to a man in the language he understands it goes to his head, speak to him in his own language and it goes to his heart".You would be mistaking if you think Mandela was talking only about spoken language. Peace. PS: Just so you know, they teach Nigerian languages using English because it is easier for the students to relate. I know this because I'm a teacher! |
