If you leave a job because of lack of promotion you felt you deserved due to your achievements and then few years down the line the same company sets up an interview for you to come and work as contractor and you will be working with the person they gave the promotion to instead of you which made you to leave the company in the first place.

Would you attend such an interview?

If the pay is good, I will go and work since it is on contract

But what if they just want to use you to gain the knowledge they need on how to solve the challenges they have and then ask the contractor to leave? This new experience will be worse than the first one. They might even use the interview to gain this knowledge they need for the work without offering the contract.

It depends on the kind of work I am going to do, if it is something that requires them gaining from my knowledge, I will reject the offer since I wasn't treated well before.

This is just an interview and not a guarantee of a job. The interview might just even be a way for them to get the knowledge they need from you without any job offer.

Oga if they will pay you well... And you can do another job while earning from them, then you are fine.

Sometimes, you can be busy somewhere else when they need you. That is a better revenge

First of all, I don't see the reason for the interview, since you were an employee

Next, bill them professionally, like a new contractor and if possible, don't allow the new person to learn much

If the job requires some technicalities, I think you should take up the contract; that will be another source of your income even if the contract gets terminated after its term. You still stand a chance to get referred to another contract base on your previous job you might have done.
But if the job requires you to directly report to the new employee and working under same condition as before, I think you are better off with another job.

Of course, if they can get over the fact that I was working for them before and treat me as the independent contractor that I am. I could even leverage my past knowledge of the company's operations as a former insider to boost my contract fee.

every office has politics,

inshort man is a political animal,

I once worked this colleague that looks down on his fellow employees, One day they conspired against him.

You were not promoted because of office politics, so just go ahead do what needs to be done,

If e pain you start your own company.

I may work with my enemy so long as money is involved, so long as I get paid.

Drop Ego aside e dey spoil something

That sounds like they practice nepotism

Are they doing quota system?
Re: Would You Attend This Type Of Interview? by pozehnani(f): 2:09pm On Feb 22
If the offer is good, why not? I'll gladly do it. Afterall it's not the person who said I shouldn't be promoted but the company. So if anything, it's the company I should be infuriated with. So, anything that will make me consider a contract from the company, I'll go all the way for it.

Why do people always have issues with the person they promoted instead of them? Did he/she promote him/herself? Also, bros, you were not promoted years ago, that's not ur concern anymore, na People like you dem go break up with who go still dey pray to god of vengeance 10years later; my brother move on. Get the contract, do your job get and your fvcking money.

I wanted to skim through this particular question but my brain started spinning.

No paragraphing or punctuation at all, you drove the question like a car on Uyo - Ikot Ekpene highway.

I don't even have any answer to your question, maybe the person below me can help.

So you won't go and get paid just because you don't want to share knowledge because you are angry? They will still find someone to do it and you will lose out.

Never go back to your vomit...

Only a shameless person who doesn't know his/her worth would quit a job at a particular company out of injustice and still go back. What a mockery.

Its a contract and it comes with agreement if am pleased with the terms I go for the interview and do the job without attaching emotions to it and if am not pleased with the agreement I turn down the interview and offer... Life must go on
