Someone asked you to stop killing his people, your response is to block passage for foods. Since Buhari took over, Miyetti Allah av held this nation hostage, making threats and declarations, killings and sorts yet they are as free as the air. The South will remember 8 Likes |

Its the north that will definitely be at a loss. Their products will rot before it even gets to Niger and Chad, and there are chances it won't sell immediately it gets to those areas. It has also made us resolute to start serious farming, our lands being much better than the many useless soil types of the North. 4 Likes |

Wish our people will take this serious. I observed that vegetables from east is so diff from the ones from the north or middle belt. I prefer corn from east, east has one particular yam type called ji añùñù. That yam is the best yam aside water yam u can get. When you peel it, it's a little bit green. Cos it has little starch, it's not good for poundo. We should also encourage planting of cocoyam more. That's one carbohydrate that can curb diabetes. Don't know why south think they can't plant carrot, bell peppers and green beans. The only thing we lack is the robust jos tomato and onions and lol, onions can be planted in your balcony in the city with container. So also herbs. We just don't care cos we see farming as dirty and beneath us. If u even say u are studying agric in uni, babe won't flock around you. Who want to marry a farmer or a vet Dr? 10 Likes 1 Share |

How will you dismiss their blockade when you allow their cattle to to ravage the crops you will plant. That will be their next calculated step since the Southern Governors have allowed Fulani herdsmen to roam about the farm lands. You just hear that they set fire on farmlands to allow fresh grass to grow for their cattle whereas what they are doing is to cause a famine in the south. The Nigerian Constitution has worsen matters in this situation. |

Growing up in the 90s, I remembered we had tomatoes, yams and onions in the SW before northerners invaded the markets with their produce and ran the southern farmers out of the produce business. 3 Likes |

That's nice Let them threaten But also, let's be ready to arrest Southerners who would like to use the opportunity to increase prices of foodstuffs. Those people are wicked. With time, we will produce our own food. |

This is an eye opener, the country is indirectly gearing towards being a true federation where every region takes care of its self. And the northern governors telling herdsmen they can leave anywhere in Nigeria before are now quiet when their own people are blocking free movement of other to go anywhere they like in the country. Its all goods sha as most Yoruba States won't beg them to ease their blockade. Them go learn lesson When we find alternative, let's see where you sell it yo after then |

One of the best News I've seen on NL, May their strike continue because we'll adjust and be self sufficient in terms of food production but let them take those cows off our farmlands & forests....Good riddance to bad rubbish! 2 Likes 1 Share |

Some southern state governments and farmers have dismissed blockade by northern food suppliers, saying it is an opportunity for the South to boost its food production capacity. Officials of the states including Lagos, Cross River, Akwa Ibom, Delta, Enugu and Ondo in separate interviews with The PUNCH on Monday explained their actions to ensure self-sufficiency in food and animal production. Jokes of the century . You were waiting for northerners to punish you with starvation before you boost your own food production capacity all these years? Desert states threatening rain forest states with starvation and you are not ashamed of yourselves. Most of them have been paying lip services to agriculture over the years and the truth is that they will not still learn anything this time around nor take any active steps. Everyone should brace for what's coming unless you all crawl back to the northerners and beg them. BTW: I thought southerners including nairalanders were used to calling northerners lazy and parasites just because we happened to sit on natural crude oil? Parasites are now blackmailing you with basic and essential human needs! That's comic. 1 Like 1 Share |
