The tradition of a man proposing on one knee comes from medieval knights bowing before noblewomen. Upon getting down on one knee, the proposer will then ask their partner for their hand in marriage with the phrase "Will you marry me?"

This should be SCRAPPED for any woman who is a feminist. Feminism and feminist doesn't conform to patriarchal traditions( which includes a man going on one knee to propose based on English traditions), or to gender roles. Feminist see patriarchy as EVIL, gender roles as FLUID and a construct of the SOCIETY.
