Why Do Muslim Women Cover Their Hair? by Realismailakabir: 9:08pm On Mar 25, 2021
Question

why do we cover our hair and what happens if you do or if you dont?

Answer

Praise be to Allah.

Women cover their hair because Allaah has commanded them to do so, and it is not permissible for them to go against what He says and disobey His command. Allaah has only commanded them to do this because there is great wisdom in it. Part of that wisdom is that it protects a woman’s honour from the “human wolves” who are looking for easy prey to attack and devour, and a morsel cannot be eaten unless it is prepared and ready – which is what we see in those woman who make a display of themselves, who by their appearance are calling those wolves to come and take whatever they want!

Confirmation of this is to be found in the words of Allaah (interpretation of the meaning):

“… That will be better, that they should be known (as free respectable women) so as not to be annoyed…” [al-Ahzaab 33:59]. If a woman covers herself, then immoral and corrupt men will know that this is not part of their prey, thus Allaah will protect them and take care of them.

Allaah and His Messenger (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) have issued a stern warning to women who make a display of themselves. An example of this is:

Abu Hurayrah said: The Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: “There are two types of the people of Hell whom I have not seen: a people with whips like the tails of cattle, with which they beat the people, and women who are clothed but naked, walking with an enticing gait and with their heads looking like the humps of camels, leaning to one side. They will not enter Paradise and will not even smell its fragrance, although its fragrance can be detected from such and such a distance.”

(Narrated by Muslim, 2128).

A woman [or a man] should not try to comprehend Islamic rulings with her reason – which is unable to encompass the wisdom of sharee’ah. She should know that whatever Allaah has enjoined upon her contains nothing but goodness and happiness for her, her family and society as a whole. It is known that a woman’s uncovering her hair makes her more attractive to men, which could lead to them forming hopes about her and committing immoral actions. Islam wants society to be clean, with no provocation of desires, outrage or uncovering of women’s charms – which include their hair – which can lead to others being tempted by her and which opens the door to evil and its people.

We need to point out again that Islam means submitting to Allaah. The believer follows the command of Allaah even if he does not know the wisdom behind it or he does not find anything to convince his reason of it, because his obedience of his Lord and his submission to His command take priority over all other things, and worship is based on obedience and submission.

We ask Allaah to show us the truth and help us to follow it, and to show us falsehood and help us to avoid it.

Stop lying to us, why didn't you tell us the main reason behind veil as explained in the hadith?

Even your fellow Muslim once talked about it.

https://www.nairaland.com/6345892/umar-vs-holy-prophet-battle

First, veiling or hijab was a reaction to when Muhammad wanted to consummate his wedding to Zainab, the wife of his adopted son whom muhammad claimed Allah had made legal to him. After the wedding fanfare, the guests refused to leave and after endless time of waiting, Muhammad decided to reveal the verse of hijab and used that to send the people away.

"O you who have believed, do not enter the houses of the Prophet except when you are permitted for a meal, without awaiting its readiness. But when you are invited, then enter; and when you have eaten, disperse without seeking to remain for conversation. Indeed, that [behavior] was troubling the Prophet, and he is shy of [dismissing] you. But Allah is not shy of the truth. And when you ask [his wives] for something, ask them from behind a partition. That is purer for your hearts and their hearts. And it is not [conceivable or lawful] for you to harm the Messenger of Allah or to marry his wives after him, ever.Indeed, that would be in the sight of Allah an enormity."
(QS. Al-Ahzaab 33: Verse 53)

That word translated as partition or screen is the word Hijab (حِجَابٍ ) in Arabic and has nothing to do with your usage of hijab today

Second was when Umar was always trailing the wife of Muhammad to the toilet in order to force the hands of Allah to do their biddings of asking Muslim women to be covered and as expected, Allah did their biddings as suggested by Umar.

"Narrated By 'Umar (bin Al-Khattab)
My Lord agreed with me in three things:

1. I said,"O Allah's Apostle, I wish we took the station of Abraham as our praying place (for some of our prayers). So came the Divine Inspiration: And take you (people) the station of Abraham as a place of prayer (for some of your prayers e.g.two Rakat of Tawaf of Ka'ba)". (2.125)

2. And as regards the (verse of) the veiling of the women, I said, 'O Allah's Apostle! I wish you ordered your wives to cover themselves from the men because good and bad ones talk to them.' So the verse of the veiling of the women was revealed.

3. Once the wives of the Prophet made a united front against the Prophet and I said to them, 'It may be if he (the Prophet) divorced you, (all) that his Lord (Allah) will give him instead of you wives better than you.' So this verse (the same as I had said) was revealed." (66.5).
-Sahih Bukhari 1:8:395

Also, Muhammad knew that Umar and others may be interested in taking over his wives after he had died, that's why he formed a revelation that nobody should marry his wives when he died.

And it is not [conceivable or lawful] for you to harm the Messenger of Allah or to marry his wives after him, ever. Alhamdulillah for the light of Islam.

Firstly, the Hijab is not only to cover the hair. It covers from the head downwards...

Secondly, the Christian above uses a signature that says "Truth must prevail" but he's adept in peddling falsehood.

{O Prophet, tell your wives and your daughters and the women of the believers to bring down over themselves [part] of their outer garments. That is more suitable that they will be known and not be abused.} [Quran 33:59]

Abu Hurayrah may Allaah be pleased with him narrated that the Prophet, sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam, said: "The woman is ‘awrah (body parts that should be covered), so when she goes out, the devils hasten to receive her (seeking to tempt her or make her tempt others)." [At-Tirmithi]

Hijab is winning!

Have you seen the reason why you need to seek for knowledge now?

The word used in the verse you quoted is jalabibihina(جَلَابِيبِهِنَّ) which means dress/robe/outer garment and not hijab

For some reason I agree with Muslims on why their women cover their head and as well their body.

Mohamed or whoever started the trend knows how frustrating and lustful it is for a man to look out of his window and see nothing but a lady with exposed enticing body that will rewire his thinking for a moment or render his thinking faculty useless for the whole of that day.

The creator of humans did not only create women to be enticing to men but as well created them to be a distraction else men should have been somewhere close to finding answers to how the universe came to be.

If anyone tells you when you look at women with enticing body and lust over them that it is a sin, that person is ignorant of the fact that the human mind and eyes has its own mind that it is not easily in our grasp.

The Catholic Church adopts this method of hair and body covering for their women but it only applies to rev sisters and not widely practiced by all its members.

Some other churches too like deeper life but their own isn’t so deep like the Muslims. There’s a big relationship somewhere in all this as to why women should cover their body.

On this, I give it to Muslims.

Does covering their head stops the Muslim woman from intermittent divorce?

Does it stops them from islamic prostitution?

Does it stops them from flirting around in almost all IDPS camps in the north?

This is how you hide under your archaic religion to enslave or restrict the muslim females from so many functions while the Muslim man lurks, glooms and jumps from the back of one muslim lady to another in the name of Islamic law to be polygamous.

Mind you, the same Islam will send you to hell if you can't think yourself out.

It was All Umar's Idea. Not Allah's idea.

Firstly, it was Umar's idea Umar was the second Caliph but when he did this he was just a close friend of Mo

2. During war and r@P£ it is used To differentiate Muslim women from "unbelievers" so if there was an attack the unbelievers would be separated and dealt with while the Muslim women would be spared

This was the narration of Aisha the prophets famous wife and child bride

The prophets wives did not wear veils until Umar went to peep sauda as she peed then Umar told Mo to veil his women so men cannot just peep on them and that was how the verses of Al hijab were "revealed".
