fergie001: Your Ohaneze leader came up with the gang up issue and not me. My point is very clear, nobody is ganging up against the Igbos. If the SE want the presidency, they should go for it and stop accusing others of gang up. It is highly immoral and unfair for Igbos to be pushing for Atiku presidency while accusing others of gang up against them at the same time. They should choose one. 3 Likes |

Iegendhero:The writer said there is a gang-up against the Igbos The guy I quoted said...there is no gang-up, that infact the Igbos are ganging-up against other parts of the South. My analogy is simple: He explained like one region is responsible for all the votes the man earned. How are we sure, IF #ProjectAtiku comes again..the SW won't vote him overwhelmingly. |

fergie001: Context is very important to fully understand the import of a text, if you contextualize his stance, the import becomes clearer. SE can't be seeing championing Atiku's presidency in one hand while complaining of gang up on the other hand. It stands logic on its head. Like he said, they should stick to one. 1 Like |

fergie001: Alright got you. But I can tell you Atiku will NEVER get any overwhelming vote against a Tinubu or Osinbajo in the SW. Also, Atiku got that vote in the West in the first place because of Buhari performance which most people are tired of. However do you know same cannot be said of the SE’ners? In as much as a PDP man (whether Fulani or Kanuri) is on the ballot, the SE’ners will vote him overwhelmingly over any other Igbo candidate. They did it against Ojukwu so no need to deny it. Ohaneze here might have their own point but it’s directed at the wrong audience. They should rather threaten the PDP to give them the slot and not necessarily threaten Nigeria or some supposedly people marginalizing them. 1 Like |

Nexus25:Mr. Nexus, right? There are SE members in the APC who will also champion that the Presidency comes to them. They are defecting in droves for the same reason. Out of 5, the APC has 2 states. Hence, someone screaming for a gang-up is likely a member of the opposition who is doing what the opposition does. I am not aware of a meeting where Atiku or a Northerner was heralded as the Candidate of the PDP or has the APC zoned theirs, if yes, to where? Nonetheless, I don't know where the Igbos have any hierarchy wrt the dominant parties. Which of them have a SEner as National Chair or so.... They are complaining the same way the SWners complained in 2014 before taking their decision or is there no SWner in the PDP? |

Ikinternational: According to Ohameze, Nigeria is standing on a tripod, the North, West and East. The obj you mentioned was of Western extraction, Jonathan from Eastern extraction of the tripod and Buhari from the North. In the spirit of fairness and equity, the next President should be from the West... Obj.......West Yardua...North GEJ......East Buhari....North. The next President? |

Iegendhero:Mind you, this is a former member of Ohanaeze...How many young people or voters know whether there is an Ohanaeze? How many of their EXCOs do we even know? It is just an Organisation seen as Elders' Forum, to be frank. Who are the people that did it to Ojukwu? That was a South v South encounter..and they went for OBJ..were they wrong, especially as APGA was a growing party at the time. The Igbos don't hold any proper position in the political parties involved. The SS even vote overwhelmingly for the PDP more than the SE, but why is the stressing on the SE. Was Jonathan from the SE? You are blaming the SE...but here we have Uzodinma, who left the PDP. We have Umahi that recently defected. 2 out of 5. In the SS....all complete on the PDP..No comments from anyone. The whipping boys must be the SE, but originally who should the APC be scared of...the SE or the SS? Does the APC not have members in the SE? People want an alternative but where is it? Politicians are Politicians....It has nothing to do with the region. 1 Like |

fergie001: The bolded is what is needed of a group in dare need of a very competitive position in a pluralistic country like Nigeria. Nobody will hand it over to them on a platter and as such they should show willingness and readiness to pursue their aspiration to any length. Not this their lukewarm attitude of wanting something but too scared to pursue it but instead elect to engage in petty talks and illogical innuendos. Point of correction, SW didn't complain of ethnic gang up, they were only dissatisfied with the administration of Jonathan and they showed in their action they wanted Jonathan to go. If SE wants power, they should show seriousness. |

Nexus25:I don't know where you get the word "scared" from? In a region of 5, you have 2 sitting Governors. You had 1 in 2015. In 2015....You had no Senator...... In 2019,....You have 2+ Senators In that same party.....You have several ex-Governors, former Army Chief, et al...and you say scared? You should already know scared and the Igbos don't go in the same sentence. There is no lukewarm attitude. Even the SW didn't put all their eggs in the same basket in 2019. PDP - 1776670 APC - 2036450 The SW voted for Buhari with just a 53% margin.....Were you not lukewarm considering you needed to crush your opponent in that region, knowing that the sitting VP (who lost his PU) is from that region? Was it not the same reason the Kano Gov's aide was also threatening the APC SW chapter? If there is any region since 2019 that has made the biggest statement in the APC ....It is the SE. They are just simply adapting by throwing their eggs around. Point of correction, SW didn't complain of ethnic gang up, they were only dissatisfied with the administration of Jonathan and showed in their action they wanted Jonathan to go. If SE wants power, they should show seriousness.I can see how satisfied they are with this administration. Well, you know you aren't telling yourself the truth. The SW angst with Jonathan was that they were marginalised in the Jonathan administration, like they didn't belong...I don't know where you got ethnic gang-up from or is that what you have been made to believe all these years? I never inclined towards an ethnic gang-up hence, there is no correction to be made. 1 Like |
Re: 2023 Presidency: There’s Political Gang Up Against Igbos – Ohanaeze Chieftain by Iegendhero: 5:44pm On Mar 26, 2021 |
fergie001: The stressing is on the SE because they are the one that took this issue of PDP and Jonathan defeat too serious that they tend to become the scapegoat when trying to throw banters. Even the Ijaws who lost their son chance are not this vocal about PDP like the Igbo. For far too long, the Igbo have played the poster boy for PDP while the big boys controlling the party who are obviously not Igbos are scheming underground while using the Igbos as the mouthpiece to take the fall. Like you said, the author of this post might not be the true Ohaneze voice but I’m pretty sure he re-echoes their sentiments which is the same sentiments most Igbos push. And yes, the SS produce more votes for the PDP than the SE like you rightly said. |
