Facts presented on Reno Omokri's lies against VP Yemi Osinbajo

Reno Omokri, a former Special Assistant to President Goodluck Jonathan, has lately been attacking Vice President Yemi Osinbajo via his social media platforms. There is nothing wrong in making constructive criticism of a public political figure in the country, what is unfair is taking delight in denigrating such a person purportedly for political gains.

Below are the facts against recent unsubstantiated and misleading claims made by Reno against VP Osinbajo:

FIRST LADY AISHA BUHARI

Recently across his social media handles, Reno claimed that Vice President Osinbajo only praised the First Lady (at her book launch) for been on Facebook and Instagram.

This claim is a misleading.

While the Vice President emphasized the First Lady's presence on social media, that according to him, was only the means in which he sees the First Lady reaching out to majority of Nigerians. The Vice President also extolled the wife of the President for her courage of speaking up for Nigerians when the need arises. He didn't stop there, he went ahead to describe the First Lady as a "worthy partner" to the Buhari administration, as attested to by President Muhammadu Buhari. He only quoted the President and agreed with him on what he had earlier said about his wife.

This is the fact of the matter.

KIDNAPPED OF RCCG MEMBERS

In another post, Reno accused VP Osinbajo of not speaking up on the RCCG members abducted by a gang of kidnappers in Kaduna State. According to him Vice President Osinbajo would rather praise the national leader of the APC, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, on the occasion of his birthday. This is not true. Tinubu's birthday is different from the RCCG members' kidnap.

While it is true that VP Osinbajo attended Asiwaju Tinubu's birthday and he spoke good words about him, expectedly at a birthday ceremony of the national leader of his party, and someone he has a cordial relationship with, this is normal.

The misleading side of this story is that Reno said VP Osinbajo didn't say anything on the RCCG members' kidnap, purporting that he neglected them in the den of their abductors, this is not true. It is misleading.

Prof Osinbajo, SAN, remains the Vice President of Nigeria, though a Pastor in RCCG. He has always condemned the activities of kidnapers in Nigeria. And in carrying out his duties, he has sworn to protect the people and the territorial integrity of Nigeria, this we have seen him do from time to time. And if there's any need for the VIce President to speak against any social vices, he, by the virtue of his office does it on behalf of every Nigerian.

More over, Osinbajo as part of this administration, has been securing the release of kidnapped victims, and has since showed his concern for every kidnapped Nigerian, including the Redeemed members. The VP is a problem solver, this he has done repeatedly.

This is the truth if the matter.

However, Reno should be tolerant of people who oppose his views with factual essence, and he could also factually counter their claims if he thinks they are wrong. But over time, Reno has resorted to blocking people who are opposed to his views on his social media pages. Don't do this if you can stand by your story. Rather, engage qualitatively and let's join efforts to make Nigeria greater if that is your motive.

Inconsequential.

Reno doesn't need any help. He can fight his battles, bring it on.
