regina finished from nursing school and became a registered nurse, and i'm happy for her and congratulate her on this achievement of hers (as studyin nursing in the states can be really challenging). wishin her great success in this new career of hers. however, that phd part is a lie, think the blogger(lolade sowoolu) is exageratin regina's achievement

Just went through her facebook profile now,I must confess other nollywood actress and actors have got a lot to learn from this pretty damsel, she has not only being able to achieve academic excellence but also able to keep her marriage to this american dude called Rudy, with three lovely kids. She knew what she wanted and also got her piorities right by leaving nollywood when the ovation was loudest, I honestly think the likes of Monalisa Chinda and co have got few lessons to learn from her rather than running around with governors that have nothing to offer them at the expense of their marriage.

Why are people criticizing her for switching careers. Regina has a Microbiology  degree from Nigeria and she got the message that there is an extent beauty can take a woman before she begins to wither. She used to hang and paint Lagos red  with the likes of  Ibinabo Fiberesima, Ayo Adesanya, Sandra Achums etc. Where are they today?. Rather, she has a PHD to her name and can successfully teach in nursing schools and make over $300k/PA . Whoever said that PHD in nursing is an easy and useless degree must be crazy or high on crack and  for those who claim that she is wiping butt in America, not with a PHD in nursing. I am so proud of a sister!

for all you haters of regina, she's doing quite well. life isnt about just making money. its about doing what you love doing. life is also in phases. she has passed through the phase of being an actress, then to being married, being a committed wife and mother.

she's living a fulfilled life and am so happy for her. she's scandal free and following her heart. for her to aspire for a PHd is very commendable. its the dawn of better things to come for her. kudos to you girl. we all love you

If this lady truly has a PHD in Nursing, she can NOT earn anything less than $150,000 per year (And that is a very Conservative figure). What is Nollywood compare to where is at right now?? How many movies will she have to do in Nollywood before she can get N23,000,000 per year?? How many Nollywood stars makes even N10,000,000 a year?? Nollywood ko, Nothingwood ni.

Some?? Are you kidding?? Many Nurses at PhD level earn over $200,000 per year. Some Registered Nurses at specialist Hospitals earn well over $150,000. Why are you guys even Comparing a professional, who has found a niche and guaranteed an income till he or she dies to a Nollyhead whose star can fade with the next movie, this woman made an excellent choice. Even many Hollywood stars acting shelf life are very very short. Comparing a Nurse (PhD) to an Nollywood actress is an idiocy at it's peak!

I doubt nurses earnings can reach $200,000 per annum. I Hardly doubt is passing $100,000. Even for nurse with Phd. Maybe $72,000 max

not true. i personally know nurses and some that have been in the profession for 7 years make over $100,000
but then again, I'm in California, where people tend to make more because living is more expensive.

I know of some nurses who earn abit more than $100,000 but that is about it.

its not just movies either, its endorsements and other stuff as well. and it was $6,000 a film. but then again, i think Oprah got her facts wrong because Genny is one of the highest paid actresses and i was watching a documentary where a few Nollywood actors were paid roughly $10,000 for a movie they did, but they are nowhere near genny when it comes to fame and demand. so i doubt its $6,000. maybe it was about 5 years ago. besides, all her latest flicks are the bigger budget ones that go to theaters. she is very much in demand so i doubt she accepts $6,000 per film like she used to.

Good move on her part, I like this news.

As for the mofos on here saying crap she could earn $20,000 to $30,000 per movie, are you saying of something you know or mere speculation? Let's do a lil analysis here, how much does it cost to do a movie in Nigeria? Assuming your numbers of $20,000 per movie, and the producers budget this numbers into their cost, assuming that 25% of their cost goes into payroll, they will have to spend at least 2x of what they paid the $20,000 actor obviously they are not the only known actors in the movie.

Now we have $40,000 of payroll which represent 25% of payroll, total cost of the movie is $160,000. Remember, we just took into account of $40k of payroll expense i.e. if one major actor and non major actors are in the movie. We haven't considered that there are few other well known actors as well, other supporting actors, also 25% is just an assumption, payroll could represent a lot less etc. Now unless you can convince me otherwise that 20 to 30 of these so-called movies produced in Nigeria cost $160,000 or more, drop the bullshit. Try convincing an idiot that an actor in Nigeria earns at least $500k annually.

Besides, depending on the city, RN's earn in six figures and those with PhD, pretty much perform just about same task as medical directors do because their PhD program has transitioned them into strength and leadership, they have strong advantage in Clinical Research, etc. If I read correctly on a report by the American Medical Association, the board is willing to lax some rules particularly Nurses with PhD's to performs medical function though they don't have medical licensing but those willing to take it a step further
