Jesus ‘’is the mediator of a better covenant, which has been enacted through better promises ‘’( Heb. 8.6 ) This covenant corrects the faults of the first covenant ( through Moses ) ( Heb. 8.7 ); The new covenant “ has made the first one obsolete, “ so that it is now passing away (Heb. 8.13) As a result of the old covenant becoming obsolete, all its institutions likewise become obsolete ---- priesthood, sacrifice, and sanctuary. Hebrews 10. 1-10 specifies that the imperfection of the old covenant had to do with its sacrificial system. The Law was only the shadow, not the substance ( Heb. 10.1 ). It was unable to make the worshippers perfect ( Heb 10.2 ), for its sacrifices had to be repeated ( Heb 10. 2-3 ). And were inferior, bringing no final remission of sins ( Heb. 10.4 ) Hence, Christ ‘’ abolishes the first ( the cultic system of atonement ) in order to establish the second ( the principle of obedience to God’s will ) ‘’ ( Heb. 10.9 ) The replacement of the institutions of old Israel through Christ’s once- for- all action did not, however, remove for the writer of Hebrews the authority of the message of the Old Testament, for he bases his whole argument on it. For the Christian, the Old Testament remains the ‘’ word of God ‘’ but the basis of the relationship with God now is different ---- what God has done in Jesus and the new covenant of forgiveness in him. The Old Testament as a system of religion does not regulate the activities of the church, that is ,the people of Christ. The church of Christ is a new covenant community.

Rightly said

To add that
1. "new" covenant is not actually new in the sense of nascent, freshly made. It's only a renewal, or better put, a restatement, of the covenant earlier preached to Abraham, Noah, Isaac, Jacob, Joseph etc

2. The new covenant actually came before the old. The old covenant was officially launched in Exodus, while the new covenant was already in Genesis

Regardless of what you have been told by your Mogs, the new agreement, was proclaimed by God Himself as a new agreement through His prophets. undecided

The old agreement was ratified in Deuteronomy 30 whereas the new agreement was ratified at the point when Jesus Christ, the Law Himself, declared it was finished right before His death. undecided

.
All the conclusions reached above contradicts much of scripture. undecided

1) In the Gospels, we learn of at least 5 righteous people (perfect/holy) men whose holiness and righteousness was obtained through the following of the Old Covenant Law which you deem here as being imperfect.
In His teachings, Jesus Christ acknowledged that there were indeed those who had been made perfect by following the Old Law, only He instead came to call those who were sinners by Old Law standards. undecided

2) God Himself gave the Old Covenant to His people and God Himself never suggested in any way that the Law which He gave was to blame for the sins of the people, since it is the very same Law that Jesus Christ Himself lived and fulfilled into final remission of sins. undecided

3) Jesus Christ made it clear that He did not come to abolish the Law but to fulfill it and this on behalf or the sinners among God's sheep, who would decide to join the New Covenant. undecided
