Just finished Season One, and something's missing is what I think. For starts, I doubt it would have caught as many eyes if it weren't for GoT. Not as good, and I feel they rushed a lot of it. I found it hard to buy in to the characters like I did with those in GoT, whom one pretty much bought into from the start - who wouldn't love Arya with her tin helmet after all. And just as I was getting in to Rhaenera they subbed her in season 6. And those bloody dark scenes! Might be my Samsung Qled or I was distracted, but couldn't they light it up some for Father, Smith, Warrior, Mother, Maiden, Crone and Stranger's sake! I'll call season one, a prologue, and hope. Like a book that starts slow and hots up. And considering Martin writes big books, there's bound to be doldrums I suppose. I'd say, meh, but I guess I'd be just bitching cos I got to wait now for season 2 which I never did with GoT, having summoned the patience not to watch till they'd done them all. The ending was a cliffhanger, so there is hope. Please do tell when season 2 starts and ends, you very good folks. And remember, I'm just bitching, cos it's a lot better than all I've said above. |

TheKingIsHere: Did Brienne of Tarth not rule them all in character and virtue and spirit and bravery too? Kicked the butts of them that needed it and those that didn't need it weren't pigs.

TheKingIsHere: Please be serious. Jon Snow is probably the LEAST capable swordsman there; the only person he may have a chance against is Aemond Kinslayer. 2 Likes |

kay9: The way you guys disrespect Jon snow is crazy. Dude has the best feats of all of them if you ask me. Only Jaime Lannister I'd rate higher than him. Remember when Ramsay said "the way northern people talk about you bastard, it's like you're the greatest swordman that's ever lived". Dude had a growing reputation in westeros already. 6 Likes |

Barrywhyte1: What "growing reputation"? GOT is over. Nothing is growing anywhere. Jon Snow was a great, honorable man, a true "son" of the great Ned. He was a wonderful leader, and one of the bravest men Westeros had even seen. But honor and bravery is not the same as swordsmanship, not matter how much we wish it. At his prime, the greatest foes Jon faced where his poorly trained black brothers, even worse poorly trained wildlings, and white walkers - and he had valyrian steel which is complete cheat mode against white walkers. The one real test of skill Jon faced was when he was younger against Qhorin Halfhand, and even Jon himself admits that Qhorin let him win. At that age, Jaime Lannister was already an established master swordsman and Barristan Selmy was already storming castles all by himself. Jon is a weak, weak comparison. 4 Likes 1 Share |

Barrywhyte1: When I saw kay9 post, I just shook my head. The Jon Snow disrespect is massive. Only Jamie (with both hands) can match or win Jon snow in combat. |

TheKingIsHere: Disrespect? Lol .. Even ignoring the books totally, Jon Snow was disarmed by Magnar of Thenn. Compare to what First Sword of Braavos, Syrio Forrel said to Arya about your sword and your arm, and you'll understand what it means for your "one of the greatest" to be disarmed in battle by a wildling that Sandor Clegane will make short work of. By the end of GoT, King Crow was more battle-hardened and capable enough to hold his own in a melee, but in a class of the greats? Nope. Go and rewatch Ser Arthur Dayne's fight versus Eddard Stark and his retainers. That's a Great Swordsman looks like. 1 Like |

kay9: It's funny how you forget that Jon Snow fought not just one but two top tier night walkers and WON! You think it is beans to defeat one top night walker? If you think that was nothing, then I don't have anything else to say to you on this matter 1 Like |
Re: Games Of Thrones: House Of The Dragon Official Discussion Thread by kay9(m): 3:03pm On Nov 11, 2022 |
TheKingIsHere: I guess you mean WHITE walkers. Oga, stop displaying ignorance. With valyrian steel or dragonglass, even untrained wildlings can kill white walkers. Why do you think Jon was determined mine at Dragonstone?? You should probably go and check how many white walkers Sam killed before you used them as a yardstick. Or maybe Samwell Tarly a.k.a Sam the Slayer a.k.a Ser Piggy is now also a GREAT SWORDSMAN. 1 Like |

kay9:The post was talking about fighting in combat with White Walkers, not just killing them. Samwell Tarly killed that White Walker with a sneak attack. Making it sound like he killed it in combat is just disingenuous. 3 Likes |

TheKingIsHere: Did you seriously post a video of Jon Snow fighting UNTRAINED Night's Watch RECRUITS as evidence of his "great" swordsmanship?? Chaii Oberyn Martell, the Viper. Sandor Clegane the Hound. Ser Jaime Lannister the Kingslayer. Ser Arthur Dayne, the Sword of the Morning. Any of these men would have wiped the floor with your "great" Jon Snow. If you too lazy to disabuse yourself of your ignorance, sorry. |

kay9: LoL, so out of all the minutes, that's all what you saw? Fyi, they're all recruits without battle experience, including Jon Snow at that time, yet Jon bested them all. If you choose to wallow and drown yourself in your ignorance, it's fine by me. At least, everyone else can see Jon's swordsmanship from that little clip. As for Prince Obreyn, we never saw him in battle. Just one on one combat with Sandor Clegane which he lost in the mostly gruesome way imagined, the hound got bested by two women and we are yet to see Jamie Lannister display such swordsmanship in different occasions in the TV show. 3 Likes |

TheKingIsHere:aemond one eye doesn't belong on that list, amongst the other four final two should be Dario ñaharis and daemon targayrean and victory goes to Dario because though daemon is the better fighter he is too much of a showman in a duel |
