Social media promotes nudity these days which in turn promotes the urge for sexual intercourse.

Which somehow promotes self abuse of one's body(masturbation)

Which when not in check may promote one or other two spiritual consequences, which likely includes ruining someone's destiny.

So,pastor is technically right on this

True that.

Until robotics become the mainstay there is just no way to produce a tuber of yam online.

Amotolongbo:

“The social media saga has eroded the substance of destiny as it has unconsciously robbed youths of their future and their time.

“The honour of this generation has been wiped off, chatting all day with no time left to think, plan program and engage productively in the pursuit of any task.

“Some professionals have classified social media addiction along with drugs, alcohol and sex.

“Social media that is supposed to be a plus to the youths, suddenly became a minus, as everything of value is delivered through the investment of time,” he said.

The chancellor noted that life without a vision was an adventure in frustration and that life without a bearing was a burden.
Let's see....Pre-social media, unemployment among youths in the country was at about ~ 50%. undecided

Has that indicator been somewhat negatively impacted by social media for us to go as far as to level blame on social media for destruction of anything in Nigeria? undecided

If everyone follows in step, what is the 8 year old going to eat and where is he going to sleep. Understand this carefully and comprehend what he says.

Hmmm. They will still blame him and everyone else except themselves.

Sincerely, I can't agree less with him on this. He should see their writing in pen on paper, riddled with horrible wrong spellings and unpardonable syntax error , to see how far lost many of them are.

To redeem them and their future, something drastic needs to be done and will have to give way . One of such could be regulating the use of the social media for some age group by time allocation capable of restricting data, content and internet time access to them.

Someone will be struggling in life with career and academically but won't use the internet to get more insight into the topics he is struggling with but ready to participate in social media chats and haul insults at people old enough to be his grandfather , in the process incurring curses upon himself. They are highly opinionated on everything yet they are the biggest victims to Ponzi schemes including crypto-ponzi because they think life long sustainable wealth creation is 5 minute Indomie.
Between their poor upbringing which reflects in their toxic use of words on faceless forums and their poor way of choosing association , I don't know which is the bigger culprit. To those legit patriotic youths that are teachable and of sound character online and offline, you're not stupid and you will have your breakthrough some day. I salute you.

At 30, the worst to happen to you is not not having money ,job, free sex or girlfriends, it's having a horrible character whether offline or online, not reading books and having the wrong companies.

So how did you conclude that social media is to blame for what obviously seems a problem with the educational system? undecided

Social media is social and unlike deep mental thinking content, comes with programmed addictive features. Even Nairaland has been increasing its addictive features over the years to earn more money but there's a social cost we pay for these addictions especially to people in that age range that should use this period for deep mental content and work but using it to grow more toxic, unproductive and unpatriotic .

The activities that birth development and innovation lean heavily on contents that don't fit the software program codes of social media. Add the low hanging content of the social media with poor upbringing, you get the preponderance of the toxic lot here on Nairaland. The social media is profit oriented.
I see things changing and the former ad director of Google is already doing something in that direction https://www.cnbc.com/2021/05/16/sridhar-ramaswamy-ex-google-building-ads-free-search-engine-neeva-.html
