Social media is the reason. Too many show off with little study time.

I think the use of NIN this year prevented the usual malpractices in many places. So many centres that works miracle were disqualified at the 11th hour. To me, these are factors and it really shows what we're made of in Nigeria. It's a pity.

Like y'all prepared well and still failed?
It's a one way thing, read and be well prepared and pass. Do otherwise and be on social media lamenting.
Jamb has been pretty easy for some yrs now n repeating pass questions, I think they changed questions this year.

. . .in an unserious society ruled by unserious government. Growing up, the mindset is to study hard get a job and live happily ever after. But the bad governance has helped to shift the focus. Parents, religious leaders, elders and even the government are now bad examples to the youth. Just last week a boy living few houses away bought GLK Benz, his cousin bought 2 Lexus few months ago. These are persons under 20 years. Yet they have parents. I doubt if they have gotten o'level. How will they even consider school when those who are supposed to oppose their crime are keeping quiet because they have started enjoying the proceed due to their lack. Too many wrong things & people are motivating the youth wrongly especially online. Even the ones that manage to go to school will pay their way out. Or is it the decent youths that studied very hard with a good grades yet can't get a job of #20,000 a month. It is a failed system.
.
A failed system. Ok.

Nothing else but changing of examination tactics...... Once in a while. Next year's own will be better.

Honestly, it's really very painful when I see all these happening. Students no longer study. I overheard a jambite discussing sex with her friend and how she plans to dump the guy. Sincerely, the society is really corrupt. Things we're not like this some years ago.
the boys are into yahoo and girls are full time girlfriends and runs girls.. I know an ss3 student that already brought a car from yahoo money and it was more like his parents had to persuade him to at least finish secondary school before quitting school, now tell me how that one is going to be serious with acadrmics

Nowadays, most students do not study hard; all they do is to try hard to spend more time on social media like WhatsApp

Nigeria itself is failing, so why won't people fail Jamb?
Everything is about failure in Nigeria. Starting from Buhari to the least candidate that score 4/400.

Look well, u can hardly find successful educated role models. Their only examples are yahoo boys, politicians and hustlers for street. That's the harsh reality we find ourselves as Nigerians.

Even if u study hard and become a banker or even doctor, ur pay no fit earn 800 dollars Monthly. While some under 20 yahoo boys make millions monthly.
Young ones don't have their eyes on education anymore.. No zeal or motivation..

I have an 18year old guy in my church. Always posting how he misses his gf all tru this cold, and already hustling for street.

At 18, I no get any money or gf. All I knew was to pass my exams and enter school.
Whats the way forward?

One of the best sincere opinions out there. If we are to be honest with ourselves, majority of public and private schools (75% "my analysis though"wink now charge students substantial fees to help them in various SSCE. You can do your research all over the 36 states of the federation. It has never been this bad. Even in he late 90s through early 2000, we do hear or malpractices through macenery which was very risky to execute then. You will feel sorry for this country if Mark WAEC and NECO papers. It's disheartening, education is dead. I was surprise when a niece of mine told me are to pay for expo 'N4500 to be precise' this public school in ekiti. She even claim to be the best in her class for the fact that she can read and write. She has never opened a book to read in my presence except when writing note. They are hooked on social media and watching movies and football. It's sad. It's either WAEC and NECO should be scraped or we retrace our steps.
Aroyjunior:
Am impressed with what jamb did this year, the under18 of now Nigeria is producing would destroy this country, this kids don't read anymore they relay on expo for virtually everything, since waec is no longer an examination board it's a scheme where the supervisor want to make money, the owner of the school wants to make money, the teacher invigilator also wants to make money, this so called candidate and pupils don't read again rather they are ready at all cost to buy their way in to examination hall and pass, you see them with their phone distracted with the most stupid thing that is not suppose to be heard of,you teach them in class they talk about nudes, porn and the likes which could be so annoying........education doesn't measure anylonger.imagine those our days you want to do jamb your parents alone would be singing it like a song to your ears that you shouldn't fail, you your self that want to write the exam would have read past questions like die,but this ones never it's phone and them discussing about prostitute celebrities.
Am happy with what jamb did. Finally I can mock them.

So you're saying 70% are dull?

The number is closer to 95%.

These students find it so difficult to study these days.

They would rather look for or be depending on expos.

Could you believe that in my school where I am invigilating some semester exams, so many students coming to exam try to start cheating right from the moment they are told to start writing?

What manner of unpreparedness is that?

The worst is that in a class of let's say 30 to 40 students, it is only about 5 students who will be focused on their work. The rest are busy looking for how to cheat their way.

From my own observation, this scenario got worse after we came back from the COVID break.

So many students are still finding it so difficult to get back to their usual study mode.
