It's because it makes him to be more powerful than them, since it's a lesser standard to the Law of Christ which gives Christians and the church the power to be stronger than the devil. Matthew 16:18, Luke 6:46-48.

Hence the devil would do anything to stop Christians from keeping the Law of Christ because he still wants to maintain his superiority over them.

That's why whenever the Law of Christ was sown, he'd immediately send his own as the serpent in the beginning to try and deceive those who hear it or to distract them from the word they heard, as we've seen happen here severally. That's how he steals the Law of Christ sown into people's hearts even before they could think of keeping it. Mark 4:4, 15

Those he wasn't able steal before they thought about keeping it, he brings up persecution because of the Law of Christ which was sown into their hearts, so that they get discouraged and don't keep keep it. Mark 5:6, 16.

Those who he doesn't succeed in discouraging with persecution, he'd use the pleasures of this life, like riches, sexual lusts, etc., to distract so they don't fully keep the Law of Christ as they ought to. Luke 8:7, 14.

So the devil would do anything to ensure that Christians do not keep the Law of Christ because of the unprecedented threat it would pose to his works. Hence he'd rather have them settle for the Law of Moses instead which was a lower standard and limits the spiritual ability and potency of a Christian and the church as a whole.

This is one of the major reason for the lack of power in the church today compared to what it used to be with the early church which Jesus built.

For instance, the Law of Christ would say, "love your enemies and pray for them", but Christians would want to go back to the Law of Moses to get "an eye for eye", "tooth for tooth", "life for life", because it's easier for them to justify their inclination towards vengeance, and praying for their enemies to die, than obeying the Law of Christ which rules against that.

They want to go back to the Law of Moses to justify their divorce of their spouses instead the Law of Jesus which rules against that among other such things.

But in doing that, they lose the power that comes with the keeping of the Law of Christ which makes them to be stronger than the devil, and makes the devil not to be able to prevail against them.

That's the rock that Jesus built His church upon, it's the Law of Christ! But overtime, the foundation of the church has become more on the Law of Moses than the Law of Christ, so the church is no longer as impregnable as it once was when it was founded upon the Law of Christ.

That's how Satan was able to break into the church and sow his children which made the state of the church even worse.

Satan would do anything not to have the Law of Christ back to the church, because he very well know that the day that happens would mark the beginning of his end and those of his children in the church.

I pray that the church would to back to the Law of Christ which gives them the power to be stronger than the devil!
