That would have been no problems except for the behaviour of some uncivilised Igbos. The world today is getting behind ethnicity and racism. The spare part sellers of Aba and Alaba would take it to be conquest rather than new order. We are all becoming citizens of the world not a locality. Arnold Schwarzenegger became a governor in the USA; Obama, president ( one of the best ten ever in American history). No outsider can be a ward leader anywhere in Igbo land. They are not friendly. This OP takes his core values in myopic tribalism. The train of civilization left him aeons ago.

Nice one Op,

He a very patriotic Nigerian, a true Lagos, a prominent APC member, and core Tinubu loyalist. He is the right man for the job.

I second the motion.

is that why the first mayor of Enugu town was a fulani man in 1960? Around the same time the 'detrabilized' yorubas were decamping from NCNC to avoid Zik Omo Igbo becoming premier of western region.

Yorubas even went to extreme lengths of drawing tribal marks on their faces to look different from Omo Igbo

Are we cursed with tribalism in the west? undecided

So you compare mayor to premier of region?
let a Yoruba man be governor of Anambra first, then we will reciprocate.
Same way that seems unthinkable to you, is how it is unthinkable to us for an Igboman to lead Lagos or any Yorubaland.
What is sauce for the goose should be sauce for the gander.
And we need to depopulate Lagos of all these Igbo and Fulani people really. Once we get Oduduwa. They are of nuisance value only (one is majorly a murderous religious zealot and dullard, and the other is majorly a proud thieving fraud filled with criminal mindset).
nonsense

do you have any instance of yorubas voting a non yoruba to win anything (even mayor) in SW?

Do you realize that Enugu was the capital of the whole eastern region at the time? That was like a non yoruba being the mayor of Ibadan.

You tribally charged tribe of the west don't realise why Igbos are always the largest tribes after the indigenous peoples in every community in Nigeria....it is the same reason why we don't have tribal marks.

WE ARE NOT TRIBALISTS!

We are the biggest supporters of your Odudufraud Republic. That is why you guys mock igboho that he is only deceiving Igbos. Afonja masses can't do self determination!!

You are the only tribe in Nigeria that willingly submitted to British to be colonized

Those days are gone. The founding fathers tried to practice that, it didn't work. Soon, the same Fulani began to kill Igbos. This led to civil war. That singular war produced people who no longer went to school but spare parts sellers.
Now things are changing. People like you are still living in the past, looking back, jeopardizing a glorious future.
The same SW provides home for all to succeed in one's choice calling. Many Igbos make their fortunes in SW, though people like you can't appreciate that.
How many other tribes can trace their fortunes to SE. Greed, 'Igbo sense', though well traveled, but not affected by ' global sense' You read with relish, the accomplishments of your ' tribal man' in other climes, yet hold to I, me, myself.
Those days are gone, brother. Go back home and teach your blodas, the train of social order has left them behind.
Renew your mind also to embrace the rave trend!

While every fact shows the contrary. Unlike you owomis who have fought both fulani, Hausa and Igbo in Lagos for one yeye reason or the other, Igbos have never fought the hundreds of thousands of Hausa merchants and bureau de change dealers making good morning from the east.

We are not like you who are stuck to your region and only shouts one Nigeria as far Niger Delta oil still dey pay

In Lagos there, Igbo produced a national assembly Law maker, I don't know how many councillors and others. In Ekiti here where I am currently working, there are some many ebira political office holders.
In earlier post, you mentioned how SW, would decamp from NCNC, yes, because you read wrong history.
Awolowo, for three days begged Zik to allow south to unite, showed him to see the behaviour of Fulani, he didn't agree. Yoruba and Fulani had interacted for years and fought wars. Zik was decided to accept ceremonial presidency. would you want Awolowo to put the neck of his people to slavery in their own land? That would not be wise. The end justified the means: Awolowo ran a better government than the two combined.
The liberality brought by his free education is what you enjoy today in southwest. That is what is missing in SE and North.
Those people fighting in Alaba, Alapere, Mile 2 and others are same illiterates like you still fighting social other on Nairaland.
How many in VI, Park View, etc have time for such nonsense?

lol

Stop dabbling into things above your intelligence.

Herbart Maculey died in 1946 and left Zik incharge of NCNC while Awolowo was involved with egbe Omo Odudufraud. In 1953, the first election was held by the British and NCNC won majority in both east and west. While NPC won north.

Zik was going to be the premier of west where he was based at the time and spoke fluent yoruba. Eyo It's was going to be premier of the east.

Awolowo spent days whipping up tribal sentiments against Zik. The night before inuguration of parliament, most of the yorubas left NCNC for Action Group.

That singular act made Zik to despise Awolowo and paid him back latter in 1959 (6 years later)

We are saying the same thing. Awolowo earlier tried to convince him against Fulani. He knew the party was left for him by his kinsman, Macaulay. A time came to decide not tribal now but also political career of Awolowo. He had tó be smart also.
Besides, what happened in 6 years later?
He had to protect his interest and people. Igbo was fighting to secessed. They were moving towards Lagos not Kaduna or Kano. Would Ojukwu have made Yorubaland an annexe of biafra?
All the interests of Igbos were protected during the war, all igbs dues duly paid. Houses of Igbos in the North, businesses were not returned.
Ojukwu even killed Yoruba soldiers who defected to him in cold blood.
Brother, put those things behind, they serve no useful purpose.

Lol. I don't know why so many Yorubas are indulging a tribalistic, unintelligent and hateful troll like you.

Igbokwe cannot become governor because many are ahead of him and better placed to gain the position.

They have the requisite ability, skills and professional background of solutions provision that Igbokwe does not have.

Starting stupid threads like this just shows why Igbos, ever emotional, are stuck in the dark ages per political leadership of Nigeria and even their own states.

Everything for you guys begins and ends with hate, tribalism, sentiments, intolerance and enmity. Pathetic.
