Jimi Agbaje, former governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Lagos state has urged the Federal Government to follow due process in the case of Yoruba nation activist, Sunday Adeyemo aka Sunday Igboho who was arrested and detained in Benin Republic.

Igboho who was arrested at an airport in Cotonou on Monday night alongside his wife, Ropo Adeyemo is still being held by Beninise authorities.

Speaking with DAILY INDEPENDENT, Agbaje also urged the Benin Republic government to ensure due process is followed unlike the case of the extradition of Nnamdi Kanu, leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) whose manner of return to Nigeria from Kenya is still shrouded in secrecy.

Agbaje said: “Everything should be by due process. We don’t want a situation where we are becoming a police state where every measure of opposition is handled with a very heavy hand. The idea of chasing people around to me is not the best way to go".

“People run away from the law when they feel they will not get justice. If you feel that the way they even come after you is as if you are already guilty, then how can you get justice? For me, the Sunday Ighoho matter should be handled with due process.

“The Benin Republic government should do things properly so that we don’t have a repetition of what happened in the case of Nnamdi Kanu".

“Till today, we are not even clear as to how Kanu came into the country. But it is obvious that something is hidden and it did not follow the due process. That is why nobody has come out to tell us exactly what happened. We hope that due process will be followed in Igboho’s case.

“Everybody must feel that the law is even-handed. You are not guilty until so proven. Nobody is saying anyone who is guilty of a crime shouldn’t be prosecuted but justice, equity and fair play must be done and due process must be followed.”

Will commend Yoruba tribe for speaking out for their own at this time..

Unlike the igbos .. with humans like Adadike casting aspersions on their own... follow yoruba to mock their own .. many igbos on this forum are critics of Kanu

So why will yoruba and north take igbos people serious .. when they say igbos are not united .. una go yap them on religious difference.. without understanding..

Oyigbo update is still serious with his IPOB and Kanu matters .. but you see all Yoruba press are behind IGBOHO... with so many different propaganda flying to make sure he’s safe.

Nice one .

How ever it doesn’t change the fact that he committed felony and treason against the state.. and will face the law.. in Nigeria as well as criminal crime In Benin and will be tried there.
Don’t know which will go first.. guess Nigeria.

North have once again proven themselves as political husband to southern Nigeria .

... if IGBOHO is arrested heaven will fall..
.... if Kanu is arrested thunderstorms will take over desert..

JOKERS

Power will return North and no noise

Buhari is actually the Chief Kidnapper of Nigeria, he did it in 1983 by kidnapping Umar Dikko from UK in a crate, did it to Nnamdi Kanu in Kenya and wants to do it to Igboho in Benin republic.

The worst part is that 2023 is still very far shocked

Buharî will definitely be the LAST fool ani savage animal to rule Nigeria.
A very useless nepotistic senile idiot.
The SENILE VEGETABLE old fool is calling for war and he'll definitely get it.
These senseless people have been ruling this country 90% of times with almost nothing to show for it.
I don't just know what we pay taxes for.
The government is barely doing anything.
Nigerians most provide everything for themselves.
Want good Power - you buy generator
Want good education - go to private schools
Want shelter - Build a house
Want good water - dig a borehole
Want security - provide one for yourself etc.

These people are:
Most corrupt
Most in government
Most useless
Richest and yet most wretched.

Why can't their own rich people and useless politicians feed and take care of them?

Why are they always coming down to the South (Lagos, Ọyọ, Ogun port Harcourt etc) to beg?

Some, many of their few rich fools have start to flaunt and post sallah pictures in their ill-gotten wealth to show off, while more than their other 90% rest population go about to the street to beg for halms and constitute nuisance.
Very USELESS PARASITIC savage animals.

Why fight a battle where u know there will be no justice if there is no ulterior motive?

If the fight is sincere, it is worth sacrificing life to be a martyr

But since it is political, they end up sacrificing the lives of others while saving theirs.

Buhari is a master in the game of Nigeria politics

It's just a matter of time, Igboho and other freedom fighters will get justice and have their names exonerated for voicing out against this nepotic cum terroristic government.

Buhari's security network could travel far outside the country to arrest people speaking out or standing tall against him and his killer kinsmen but could not do anything to arrest his co-terrorists terrorising the country?

It's just a matter of time, both Buhari and everyone supporting his evil will end miserably.

But they called Nnamdi Kanu coward for escaping from Nigerian Army invasion of his home at Afarukwu Abia State in 2017.

Even Tinubu their Lord, Soyinka, etc ran away from Abacha regime but when Nnamdi Kanu did same, they called him all names and even supported this same bloody terrorist Buhari when he sent soldiers to murder IPOB members in cold blood in Abia State and Onitsha when IPOB were completely armless holding only Biafran flag.

Many of these people crying for justice now danced and rejoiced when their so called Python Dance massacred defenseless IPOB members in the SE and they think God and nature is not alive.

Buhari and his generation will definitely pay for their evil of today, they may think they are above the law now, but tomorrow is pregnant.

Even MiddleBelt wouldn't have believed in 1967 that the same Hausa-Fulanis they joined hands with to massacre civilian Igbos in that inhumane 1966 pogrom will later turn against them and now killing MiddleBelt people daily like its a game of fun.

That's why it's not good to support injustice against anybody or tribe, always stand on the path of truth no matter what.
