valentineuwakwe: A new refinery of the total capacity of Kaduna and Warri refinery will set you back by at least $8-10bn $1.48bn pales into insignificance, the caveat is will the investment bring the refineries back to reasonable operational status? In any case it's always a good idea to process and add value to our crude oil before export, that is jobs and more revenue 1 Like |

Tbasicme: Complete falsehood, you don't know anything Haas explained that when calculating the cost to build refineries, the industry’s jargon represents it as a cash amount per barrel of oil. “For many years, refinery cost to build was about US$10,000 to a barrel and then it changed and rose to about US$20,000 and about today it could be up to US$25,000”, he observed For grassroots refinery You can make various assumptions but we’ve made a range of assumptions and finally that gives you the cost of a grass-roots, 100,000 barrel per day, cracking refinery and we ended up with a total grass-roots cost in the neighbourhood of US$5 billion. It’s a large amount of money,” Haas told the gathering last evening. Kaduna and Warri have a combined capacity of 235,000 barrels do the math 1 Like |

seunmsg: There was never any need to repair them first. Just sell them off and the new buyer will fix them up. Now, you're accumulating unnecessary debt. The refineries may not be worth their cost of repairs to potential buyers. This will frustrate its privatizaon. Oil workers will argue against its privatization if it's sold below their repair value. PMB is an economic illiterate sad to say. OBJ had sold them off but YarA'dia reversed it. 2 Likes |

Africa is in deep pool of foolishness with resources, this is why the western countries are better off than us even with out resources. After tapping all the resources, the white people will peg us a price, while one company like Facebook that does not sell oil is richer than Nigeria. What a shame, African governments have to understand that the world has change now wealth lies in creativity and not natural resources. Wealth is the people and not natural resources 1 Like |

Meninmen: And in all these cases it means Nigeria is staking 100% of the project sum? We know there are challenges with transporting crude to Kaduna by pipeline and in any case venezuelan heavy crude is required. No issues if we become off taker of Niger crude rather than go all the way to Venezuela. Countries are always looking for ways to cooperate at different levels, except you have any information that any of those projects are not sound or financially viable, all you're doing is rabble-rousing and ethnic jingoism. When you get a president you love encourage him or her to explore business opportunities with Chad, Benin or Cameroon. |

They are gathering monies for 2023 election. Several billions of dollars being spent from OBJ's regime till date are embezzled. It should be privatised rather than using it to siphon the public fund. Useless governments. |

frog12: What is refinery doing in Niger? Why did Dangote site refinery in Lagos? Rwanda, Singapore, Zimbabwe, Uganda, Ethiopia must not have refinery because they don't have oil or seaports. No country must site a refinery in any area if there's no oil deposit or seaport. |

seunmsg: That is his wish, hateful somebody. They won't do anything yet they hate anyone making a little effort. I don't see how some unwell Nigerians will clap for Ghana president merely talking about adding value to cocoa before exports, no investment announced yet o. But they hate it when Nigeria wants to add value to it's crude oil and takes real steps to actualize it. That's how you know we have quite a number that should be in psychiatric wards roaming here 1 Like 1 Share |

Meninmen: Idiots, when Jonathan was having this same discussion on cooperation with Niger on rails and other things there was no ethnic undertone and you didn't ask if he had cousins there. Have you asked if Fashola or Buhari has family in Cameroon for commissioning a bridge to that country when many parts of Nigeria are still yearning for one? You're a horrible ethnic bigot and would be worse than Boko Haram only if you can find guns and bombs This is as at 2011 bigot https://www.nairaland.com/813421/niger-republic-opens-new-refinery

Ovamboland: First, the GEJ government did a feasibility study on the project and after the study, the project didn't see the light of the day because the economic viability was not much. As a zombie that you are, you can't know this! And what has the link you provided on your post have to do with the discussion on ground? GEJ send a representative to the commissioning of Niger's refinery. And so? Who is a greater ethnic bigot than PMB? Useless fool! |
