mrvitalis: Dumbo! Project scope and scale are not the same. How many bridges were built on Kaduna -Abuja rail? How many houses were pulled down, what compensations were paid? You also forgot to add that Abuja- Kaduna rail PDP could not complete in 6+ years till APC came to complete it, while Lagos-Ibadan was completed in 3 4 Likes 1 Share |

obailala:ebuk4real: :The rate at which everyone just becomes overnight experts in developmental economics is baffling. The coastal railway will connect all seaports in Nigeria but according to guys, seaports are important but railways to ferry bulk goods to the seaport is an IDIOTIC idea? Wow! Bros, When you consider the failure rate in exams, the recent Jamb where only about 15% passed (got above 180/400) then you see a reflection of it on NL. Most of these guys are kids or kid-brained people who cannot reason beyond their primordial reasoning. |

All these things done in rush just to prevent disintegration won’t stop agitators from asking for self determination and total constitutional amendment. Only justice can build the right road, bridges, rail lines call it any name you like. |

mrvitalis: What a stupid assessment. APC and PDP are virtually the same at this point which is why their members defect when it suits them. Both are corrupt, even if they manage to do some good once every blue moon. While I don't particular like both, we shouldn't be disingenuous either. Compare Abuja-Kaduna train stations which look like a joke to Lagos-Ibadan stations. So I will say the extra dollars went a long way. Vs 2 Likes |

mrvitalis: What a load of absolute rubbish. Railway networks are not about ''breaking even''. They are about delivering low cost, high speed transportation for people and goods across the nation. Rail reduces the cost of transportation of goods, and hence the cost of doing business, which is so ViTAL for economic expansion of any country. The US economy was built on its famous railroads, built at the turn of the last century, and which drastically brought down the cost of moving goods and people, and of doing business in that country. The rest is history. So rail has never been about the railway builder (govt) ''breaking even'' or making a profit. It's about the long-term impact of expanded railway services on the national economy and GDP. That is where the return on investment is measured, not from how much profit, if any, the govt makes from the network. That consideration is merely secondary. 1 Like |

mrvitalis: This is another one sweating from inside and confused about what next to say about this good project. When Lagos to Niger republic was announced they cried, they said it's not viable, it's because of Buhari cousins, it's to be used to import bandits, like they need paved roads and rail to find their way into the country. They said Niger economy is too small, the rail should have linked Lagos to Onitsha, biggest this and that. Now, a rail in that direction is approved, see what they are writing again? If you seek to please these characters, you're only wasting your time. They are locked in 2015, not even the completion of 8 years by Buhari except Jonathan or Atiku takes over govt. Take them serious at your peril 1 Like |

mrvitalis: To be candid and realistic, Nigeria's economy is in the hands of people.''In 2020, Nigeria's GDP amounted to 152,32 trillion Naira, over 500 billion U.S.dollars. About 24 percent of Gross Domestic Product was generated by the agricultural sector. The largest contribution was given by crop productions, which generated 21.8 percent of the country's GDP in 2020. Agriculture contributes to a significant part of the country's GDP. It is a key activity for Nigeria's economy after oil. Nevertheless, agricultural activities provide livelihood for many Nigerians, whereas the wealth generated by oil reaches a restricted share of people.'' Also, ''the agricultural sector remains the largest employer in Nigeria, employing more than 36% of the labour force''. Other sectors that contribute more are also people business not govt and since the govt is looting the Tax then how do we expect them to tax and starve us again when we're prospering on our own? If u say our GDP is useless then u don't even know what u're talking about and the capacity Nigeria commands in world economy! |

ebuk4real: You are all very dumb people, even if your IQ is -10, I don't expect you to say a rail link that will link all major cities in 3 richest region of Nigeria will not have economic impact better than seaports doting the coast. Already it cost more to move by road a container within Nigeria than from China to Lagos and you think we should not fix that? How many Nigerians will visit the seaport on daily basis compared to the volume of inter city and inter state business that would thrive with easy local transport? I must say again you're several rungs below an slowpoke |

adecz: Any league of dummies in Nigeria. Why do you think one of the first projects by the British colonial master in 1890's was rail projects, even before they conquered the whole Nigeria. What those 19th century adventurers saw, you are yet to comprehend in 21st century. Even a cow herder understand it. What the British built served us for up to 100 years. There was a PhD holder president who rather financed private jets acquisition, luxury yatch purchase etc when cash was flowing rather than start a project like this in his region. Now all those jets have been sold off at giveaway, yatch seized. Who get sense between cow herder and PhD holder? |
