Only because they've suffered more at the hands of Barça than Real. It's a patent, text-book case of "identifying with a lesser evil (Real)". If Sigmund Freud were alive, he would have coined a stellar term summarising the antipathy expressed by many fans of top EPL teams towards the great Barcelona. He'd probably have called it "Reverse Stockholm Syndrome" i.e. instead of identifying with their tormentors, they've taken to hurling bitter apples at them.
But as my profoundly wise mother always told my siblings and I, "Lions do not trouble their ears with the opinions of the sheep".

Anyhow, Barça is still a more interesting club than Real Madrid. Call me biased but I still think we have a more interesting club history, a richer culture, a more interesting club anthem, and our fans are also one of the most loyal in the world.

I posit, too, that supporting Barcelona is thinly correlated with "high intelligence". Feretting through Nairaland for instance would reveal that the top commentators (in terms of knack for critically incisive analysis, star-studded vocabulary and literary brilliance, numeracy, and over-all knowledge base) in the Religion section, Politics section, Rap section, Family section, TV/Movies section, Education section, and even Romance section, are "mostly open supporters of Barça". It takes a keen and intelligent eye well acquainted with the aesthetics of soccer to both apprehend and appreciate the nuanced archetectural patterns eminent in the Cruyff-inspired Barcelona playing style.

I grew up among people who were either supporting Real Madrid or A.C. Milan, but the aforementioned qualities won my heart to the Camp Nou. I always saw Real Madrid as a club of "glory-hunting mecenaries", because they (Real) always spent so much money in puchasing external limbs rather than cultivating their own legs.

Part of the cause of our recent downslide is because we've taken to the ways of "mercenary-hunters" like Real and PSG, forgetting that unlike their's, our board of directors are but a bunch of penny-pinching Ebenezer Scrooges who wouldn't leave a hole their wallets if their lives depended upon it. If only we hadn't relaxed the earnestness invested in La Masia, perhaps we wouldn't be picking our way through this fuckery-themed tea-party of very "avoidable" problems. But then again, it could merely be a sore case of "hindsight bias".

the relativity here is between barca and madrid. how does a back to back in the champions league show dominance over barca? why not try these- win the league 3 times in the next 4 years, thrash barca by at least a 4 goal margin and win the sextuple(meaning surely the domestic treble). now that would be dominance over barca.
