Assuming u get 1$ and was paid 540naira instead of 185 that was obtainable in 2011,

You'll still spend it on those things that u spent the on in 2011.

For instance in 2011, let's say that with 185 naira ( 1$ ), u bought:

1 litre of Kerosene @ 65naira, and 12 cups of rice @120naira

In 2021 , ur 540 naira will still buy :

1litre of kerosene @260 .

But sadly, the remaining 280 can't get u up to 12 cups of garri agian.

So...

Stop rejoicing cos u earn in dollars.

I also earn in dollars .

Once dollar goes up, prices of everything goes up.
True talk.

This is getting annoying, so with $2000 you now have over million naira.

If the banks increase the spending limits on cards, the rate is likely to drop. There will be not much reason to patronize these currency changers.

At least allow $3000 per month on naira visa/Master cards

Wotz the limit per month ryt now?

Don't get me wrong, I am not in any way rejoicing over this news infact I already know all what you explained because we import virtually everything we consume so I know.

Let's just say I am indifferent about the whole issue

Problem is we are not earning enough dollars like we used to .

So we have to earn more dollars. Which is where the goverment fails. No diversification, no removal of subsides, no tax base expansion

Just waiting for oil to rise again!
How oil wan rise pass this one?
Oil now is 60+ dollar per barrel, it makes a whole lot of sense to us as a country at that price. If crude oil price rises to 130dollar per barrel, we will be finished as a country.
Firstly fuel price will rise maybe to 400 to 500naira per litre.
If we r paying subsidy, almost all our earnings will go for subsidy payment or underrecovery according to buhari and his lowkey looters.
So it will be both a blessing and as well as a curse.
Even if dangote refinery come onboard, fuel will still be priced according to international price, reference is what is happening in LPG aka cooking gas.
If dangote refines 400k barrels a day, he will want to export 350k barrels so as to make his forex so as to settle most of the debts he has incurred from buildng the refinery.
50k will be left for the country, u ask what will 50k litres of fuel do to Nigerian economy?
So at the end, we might still end up importing fuel even with the coming of dangote refinery.
Ha modrov na u i quote again..
Its like we need to start brainstorming on how we can fix our country with our little ideas..

The very day the CBN announced the suspension BDC was the day I started shouting of the imminent explosion.
Unless something is done immediately, this is just little to what is to come. Our financial sector is not yet that clean for us to take out the BDC, what I expect the CBN to do is to give the same role of the BDC to banks and watch the two of them compete to bring the price down but instead, the CBN did the unexpected.

How ?

The man is incompetent. The man must have failed economy section regarding supply and demand. You initiated a ban when the currency was trading @ 450 now its @540. Why were the changes initiated again. To lower the exchange rate right. You turned off supply of Forex and now demand is putting squeeze on the supply. Tell yaa wonder will never ceased to exist in that Kosi Kosi country. Kosi Owo, Kosi water, Kosi money you getting my drift

This slide is what you get when a layman is in charge of Forex policies. PMB, a man whose understanding of economics borders on the disturbing dictates how foreign exchange is dispersed.

Emefiele, the CBN governor, rather than tell off the president from politically meddling in the Banks affairs has instead, timidly been taken dictates from PMB.

I won't be surprised if the rate hits 600 soon.

I earn in dollars too, and it's practically same, because foodstuffs, and others price will hike, and the money when exchanged to naira gets finished quickly.

Lamido Sanusi said that the official rate and the parallel market rate should not have a differential of more than 3%, that any differential higher than that will lead to sharp practises. Sanusi kept it within this band when he was governor.

However, under Buhari, it has always been more than 3%. Why?

Because Buhari does not believe in devaluation. So, if the price of oil should drop, he wants the exchange rate to remain the same. When the CBN can not supply enough forex at the official rate, they turn to the black market rate and that begins to widen the gap between theofficial rate and the black market.

An Economist said Buhari's policies ignore the supply side. Who will supply dollars at the official rate? Will you? No one will.
