Typical opposite gender behaviour, as far as it is educative and something that will make you argue logically you just mark attendance and vammosss...if it were BBN or one lame inconsequential argument against males now, you would have off your brain and on your data....but when it comes to mature argument, you will go silent like a deaf and dumb lunatic.

Leaders who steal billions see themselves in the criminals that are convicted so they find it hard to sign the death warrants. Prison cells are congested like crazy. Bad facilities. What kind of people live in this geographic location called Nigeria sef?

Ganduje is a pathological lair. Those IDR ( Inmates on death role ) that were executed committed the offence. The investigation were throughly carried out before judgement was passed. I work in correctional facility most of them are supposed to be under six feet under ground.

Exactly. I can't imagine how as a governor someone will sign the death warrant to have a fellow human being hanged given the terrible nature of our criminal justice system. I would rather i'm accused of not signing, than signing only to find out after the person had been executed that s/he was innocent. At worst, I would rather commute the death sentence to life imprisonment, just like late Houphuet Boigny, first president of ivory Coast, did by commuting every single death sentence in that country to life throughout his 29 years or so as president.

See this one talking as if Nigerian governor's reluctance to sign death warrants is a problem that started in the recent past.
This has been the trend amongst our governors since time immemorial.
They are proud to hold the office, but are not ready to develop and strengthen the know-how required to be dynamic and progressive leaders.

I have often wondered how it could be so difficult for governors to sign warrants for instance for convicts that committed gruesome murders. A lot of them are taking up space in jail, while adding to prison over population.

SOURCE

He recalled an incident involving a former governor of Edo State, Adams Oshiomhole, saying, “At one time he signed the warrant and somebody was executed judiciously. Later on, it was discovered that he was not supposed to have been executed. The judgement was faulty.”

But Oshiomhole justified his action when he attended a meeting organized by Amnesty international or so, and was applauded by some attendees.

SmartPolician:
This is a rational explanation, but they need to address the problem through a collaborative effort with the corrupt judiciary..

Its a nonsense excuse. If they're not interested in doing their jobs they should step down. People on death row have option to appeal their sentences and the governors can simply commute sentences instead of doing pointless obstructions. The real solution is to strip this power from them and let trial judges handle it. They have the balls and they passed the sentence to begin with.

Only in Nigeria sha that we hear these things.

Exactly Nigeria is home to foolish excuse makers. The system is Nigeria is running is no different from the state of Florida which has one of the highest number of executions each year.

Gandolla was salivating at the opportunity to sign the death warrant over blasphemy. He is a religious zealots like the rest of Kano people.

Don't be silly.
I wanting Nigeria to abolish the death penalty has nothing to do with what is happening in other countries.

As for having a unique society we can have a unique society without the death penalty.

Does abolishing the death penalty make Nigeria not to be unique?
