Anaocha LGA Confers Chieftaincy Title On Doctor Okeke by okeychris(m): 4:54pm On Sep 20, 2021
By Emeka Okoye

History was made on the 18th of September at Anaocha Local Government Area of Anambra State, Nigeria as Dr. Emeka Okeke was conferred the Chieftaincy title, Ikemba Di Ugwu Anaocha.

The conferment which took place in the sacred square of Anaocha Local Government located at Neni town recorded a massive turn up by Anaocha people, Ndi Anambra and people from all walks of life.

The Anaocha Council of Traditional Rulers made up of Ndi Igwe from the 10 towns (Adazi-Enu, Adazi-Ani, Adazi-Nnukwu, Neni, Agulu, Nri, Obeledu, Akwaeze, Ichida and Aguluzigbo) in Anaocha host an annual New Yam Festival on every 8th moon of the year. At this festival, they thank God Almighty and their Ancestors for bountiful harvest and also pray for improved yield in the next farming season.

During this amazing and spiritual ceremony filled with cultural performances, sons and daughters of Anaocha who have done well in human development and have contributed positively to the community are recognised and conferred titles befitting their roles and impacts in the community.

An igbo adage said" Ka onye si eme ka ekwe si akpo ya (You are known and addressed by what you do). Dr. Emeka Okeke has done so much for his community and Anambrarians. For over 10 years and counting, his activities with immeasurable impact include small business owners' support and mentorship, youth development through sports and entertainment, provision of free medical care for Anaocha and Anambra in general, academic scholarships and many other philanthropic works that are too many to mention.

Dr. Emeka Okeke, is loved and cherished by family, friends and well wishers. He is the third son of Adazi-Ani born billionaire and philanthropist, Chief Sir Godwin Ubaka Okeke, popularly known as GUO and Chief Lady Patricia Okeke. Dr. Emeka Okeke has continued and amplified an age-long family tradition of community building and protection which dates back to his grandfather. Assuming such role and responsibility in local communities is quickly fading amongst men and women of Dr. Okeke's generation.

Ikemba, just like Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu, is a name given to a brave man who is never afraid of challenges. A man who is always ready to do more for his people. A selfless man, and one who is always eager to uphold the tenets, culture and traditions of his people. All of these qualities are found in Dr. Emeka Okeke. The Anaocha Council of Traditional Rulers unanimously conferred on Dr. Chukwuemeka Okeke, IKEMBA DI UGWU Anaocha.
