Kokaine: I'm sorry kokaine but in maths it becomes a constant/known factor once you input actual figures. x-y/x-y could be anything. But when X = 10 and y = 10, both variables have accepted a fixed value. Hence 10-10/10-10 is a constant and not a variable. The result is 0/0. That's simply mathematics. Cheers. 2 Likes |

BluntCrazeMan:Just about anything canbe concocted with figures. The fallacy is in the DIFFERENCE OF SQUARES. The operation for the denominator is unknown to algebra. Simply put, wot u do to the numerator, do also to d denominator. Afterall they are mirror images. I.e (10+10)(10-10)/(10-10)(10+10)=0/0=0

I feel the problem started from that factorisation part below the division.. when u factorised, u did not check both side properly and something is still common to both side... U wrote 10(10-10) instead of 100(1-1)... I don't know maybe u get the angle I am coming from ... |

Simran94: Unfortunately you are working with constants here and not variables in factorisation. x-y/x-y will cancel out as long as X is not equal to Y 1 Like |

Everything op did is VERY correct. However, no one can determine 0/0 exactly It can be any other number than 2. Infact 0/0 can be any value! He used 100, you may use another perfect square. 0/0 can't be determined PERIOD! |

BluntCrazeMan:you can only prove this if there is an unknown variables, but with the zeros meant the variables are undefined.. So no solution. But u free to assume Ur variables sha, but need to rep and notify, thanks |

The calculations went wrong from here: = (10^2 - 10^2) / (10^2 - 10^2) = [(10-10)(10+10) ] / [10(10-10)] The denominator 10(10-10) is right applying mere knowledge, BUT Mathematically, it is wrong. Mathematically, factorizing 10^2 - 10^2 will never give 10(10-10) because 10 is not the only factor common rather 10*10 is the factor common leaving nothing than 0 in both term to remain which eventually gives: 100(0-0) = 0 |

Inspiration007: (10+10)(10 –10) = 10 (10 - 10) + 10 (10 - 10) . = 100 - 100 + 100 - 100 . = 100 - 100 . = 10² - 10² |

How will you cancel (10-10) from 10(10-10) 10 is a factor of (10-10) and they are not independent variable. Hence you can't eliminate (10-10) and leave out 10 |
