The only maths you will need to survive in life are basic divisions, additions, multiplications and subtractions.
All these nonsense proofs in mathematics with no foundation in reality are for tickling the brains of nerds only.

Then prove the picture wrong...
..
As you can see, your belief was proven otherwise inside the picture..
So, disprove the picture by busting the spot where they did wrong mathematics.
..
In mathematics, you prove or disprove things.
You don't just believe things because you were told.
..
Mathematics is not Religion.

Of course, mathematics is no religion. Though interesting for mere academic exercise and brain teaser. nevertheless, from our basic elementary arithmetic, BODMAS; From the numerator":
(10 + 10)(10 - 10) = (20)(0) = 0. This implies: 0/1 = 0.

Re: Where Did This Mathematics Go Wrong? by efeteb: 10:29am On Sep 24, 2021
The error is the application of ''Difference of two Squares''. This principle is not applicable for ''the same Squares''.

ie (a²-b²)=(a+b)(a-b) ~ two squares

(a²-a²)=(a²-2aa+a²)~ Same Squares
=(a²-2a²+a²) =0

Hence 10²-10²=0
Difference of two squares has to be the square of two seperate variables.

NB: Mathematics is not to form compound problems or equation, but to resolve compound problem into relatable solutions.

This whole mess started from 0= 2. How can you say that without defining the context. If it is binary or other operations.

This is what our poor education system has afforded us. In my first semester abroad, I realized most of my Naija maths lecturers did not have good content knowledge, all na cram and pour. That is why GRE and other standardized exams appear to be hellish.

If you did proper mathematics you would know that 0/0 is INDETERMINATE. Then you would save your ink and rest.

I don't know maybe u get the angle I am coming from shockedshocked...

See below

10 x 10 - 10 x 10
= 10 (10 - 10)

= 2 (X - 2)

Genius don answer am before.

The step that is improper is when we canceled out the (10-10) from both the numerator and denominator. The reason this is against the rules is because you are basically dividing 0 by 0. It basically does this:

0*a=0*b True
0/0=b/a True
1=b/a ?
a=b. Not necessarily true

Which is not necessarily true since you can arbitrarily choose a and b.

How is (10-10)(10+10) = 10+10? lol

The difference of two squares has to be two different variables. so (10)squared - (10)squared != (10 - 10)(10+10)

It only works if we have (a)2 - (b)2 where a!=b

If 0/0 =2 then 2/1=0/0 ?
0/0 is undefined, therefore, it's said to be indeterminant
