Whether this is empty talk or not, and how well it will be implemented is one question...

Looking at the long game, it is still like lining the pipe to the same destination with honey... Whereas same destination has not enjoyed much improvement. My question is, when these education students graduate what is the gurantee they won't suffer same dismal pay teachers suffer presently.

Are we in short supply of teachers to the extent we now have to pay students to study education? After paying them N75k per semester, will they get automatic employment after graduation or still join the long queue of unemployed graduates out there? Will teachers not go on another round of strike to demand for higher salaries if we can be paying trainee teachers this much? Is it sustainable considering our recent revenue shortfall?

Anyway, I hope the policy was well thought out. I wish the benefiting students the best and I hope government will achieve the aim of the policy.

Somebody wants to go back to school. He wants to abandon auditing for education. grin grin grin grin grin grin >

Studying education doesn't mean that you'll be smart & be a good teacher ...

Why not leave teaching job for those with passion

That money shl have been used to take care of more undergraduates, even N20k monthly stipend is what some just need....then use their grade to select them from 100 level

Good move from GMB. But the issue doesn’t end by studying teaching but how much are we paying teachers to attract more people to the profession

I don't think this decision will propel the growth n interest in the educational system. The simple logic is to upgrade teachers salaries n allowances as well as the infrastructures in line with what is obtainable in an advanced economy.

We all know this is a paper talk as usual.

To implement this, they’ll have to pay billions of naira to students every semester, same billions they’ve been owing their lecturers and that kept tertiary lagging all these while.

The fact that we have people believing it’ll be implemented shows how wack and ridiculous the mentality of Nigerians are towards this evil government, and it’s the more reason why he continues to rub shit on our face without us doing anything about it.

Nigerians mumu still never do

Its impossible.
How many students are we talking about. Over 200,000 if not 2 million.
Multiply by 75,000.

I can accept 7,500, not 75k

Your Excellency, Gen. Muhammadu Buhari. (Rtd.,) GCON. We the good people of Nigeria are very grateful for all you have done for us in the aspect of Poverty reduction and improving the standards of living in our dear country Nigeria, our ONLY Country.

In the past six years, it has been very visible to the blind and clearly sound to the deaf that the policies and programs which you initiated in the country and those you are still working on have been of immense benefit to the populace and citizens of this dear country, NIGERIA. This policies are many.

The previous administration in a shadow movement acted as though they were helping the populace but behind the shadows, they milked the country dry, rendering the citizens stranded and helpless. With your initiatives the citizens have regained their stands and are very confident of your administration in further reducing poverty to its bearest minimum and also giving them more confidence that our country is on its way to greatness as the giant and bride of Africa. In fact, Mr President, the number of people who got married in your administration outweighs that of previous administration which is a sign that they had enough money to pay bride price and to host those who came to celebrate with them. We say thank you Mr. President.

Mr. President, your poverty reduction programs and internal stabilizers are worthy of mentioning. Though everyone can't be happy with your good works, the section of those who are not happy are but like a dot in an circular enclosure. These programs and stabilizers include but not limited to NPOWER, COVID-19 Funds, Market Moni, N75, 000 stipend for students and a host of others. Mr, President, we can continue on and on but lack of time and space won't allow us. No administration has done what you have done in the area of poverty reduction.

We ask that may God Almighty give you more strength, longer life and may he daily feed you ideas of moving this country to greater heights.

Long Live Your Excellency,
Long Live the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

ONE NIGERIA
President is GCFR, Grand commander of the federal republic, while vice president is GCON grand commander of the order of the Niger. Take note

Since getting jobs is not easy these days, the federal government should approve the sum of 500k cash to be given to all first class graduates through TETFund from 2022. That will encourage students to genuinely work hard in school because buying first class is almost impossible.

Because na only them go school Abi?

Why should they encourage first class?
Do first class students contribute to the economy in ways that 2:1 students don't? First class is for the student.
Here, you can see they are trying to encourage teachers.

Sycophancy and Ignorance is your bane.
I am sure you think giving you small-small stipend every now and then, is the true meaning of Poverty Reduction! grin
It is actually POVERTY EXTENSION! grin grin
Nigeria became "Poverty Capital" of the World, under Buhari's regime, is that how he improved your standard of living? shocked

To reduce Poverty, you first need to ensure there is Security of Lives and Property, in this, your Buhari has failed woefully, as he is the one of the enablers of Insurgency in Nigeria

Secondly, the Govt needs to ensure that Power is Stable, so that Entrepreneurship can Grow. Small Scale Business is the surest way to eradicate poverty.

Thirdly, You build on Infrastructure (Roads, Rail, Water Transport, Housing, etc)

Fourth: You Invest in Agriculture, nationwide. As in Modern Agriculture, not the Evil RUGA he is trying to use to steal indigenous Lands for his imported Terrorists.

All other things will follow by themselves.

But you can see that your Mannequin in Aso Rock is bereft of ideas, so he throws a few wads of Naira at you, once in a while, to keep you wallowing in Poverty, Generation after Generation.

Incase you dont know, that is why Northern Nigeria is full of Almanjeris.

BTW, anytime l hear someone say 'Nigeria;s Unity cannot be negotiated', l immediately know l have seen one of the enemies of Progress of Nigerians.
Nothing, including "Dis-Unity" of Nigeria, is beyond Negotiation.
Just out of curiosity, when was the last time you visited Nigeria?

The 'Cash out system' is so obvious to the blind.

What is to be achieved by giving out raw cash to Education students in the country?

Will this upgrade the skill of thousands of unemployed education graduates in the country?

Will this cash, help equip/train them to become employable graduates after school?

Currently, an education student is faced with high cost of living (food, rent, school fees etc)

The school and lecturer's are now devising means to ensure that the money is given to them via unwritten levies and charges.

Is this not increasing the burden of the student?

Pronouncements like

Free teachers training at the National teachers training institute upon graduation.

Provision of modern teachers training aids/equipments to our tertiary institutions.

Initiation and implementation of policies that will assimilate teachers into schools as teachers upon graduation from the universities and the National Teachers institute. Etc would have been better, instead of giving "raw cash" with no tangible impact in the educational system.

The educational system is and should never be found in the transaction of exchange of raw cash, rather 'cash' into the educational system goes in via provision of modern teaching/learning equipments/facilities, research etc.

Professors now lobby to be made returning officers during election (avenue to access raw cash)

FG is now sharing raw cash to students.

Who then does the training, learning and research in the education system?

This is the last nail on the coffin of Nigeria educational system.
