I think this is more of a moral issue than a legal issue. I don't think he has committed any crime by investing in tax-lax countries. I don't even buy the argument of him being stingy, Peter Obi was a Bank CEO before becoming governor. If he was stingy as governor, he must have been stingy as bank CEO and before then. Dude is stingy, yes, he is frugal, yes. If those are crimes, then let's hang him |
Re: Did Peter Obi Actually Break The Law? by djon78(m): 12:39pm On Oct 06, 2021 |
BlueRayDick: Did you actually read what the lawyer wrote? The report accused Peter obi for tax evasion and not disclosing his interest in a jointly owned company The lawyer analysed the two issues and came out with law interpretation that Peter obi didn't do any of those things A he did tax avoidance which is not a crime by law B that Nigerian constution wasn't specific about disclosing joint ownership company and same constution allows you to protect the interest of owners of a company and thirdly that Nigerian constution doesn't stop a public officer from being a director in a company but frowns in being involved in day to day running of the company So Peter obi didn't commit any crime Your deductions is totally different from what is being discussed I see this attack on Peter obi more as campaign of calumny He has what it takes to give good leadership to Nigeria more than many politicians parading themselves He had and still running a successful conglomerate even after leaving government And he has a chance of clinching PDP ticket So his traducers are afraid Many King makers around the country are pointing to him as someone Nigeria needs now Because he has what is needed presently for Nigeria to move up |

Were the assets declared? |
Re: Did Peter Obi Actually Break The Law? by Toks007: 12:44pm On Oct 06, 2021 |
djon78: So with joint ownership he owns nothing in those asset? |
Re: Did Peter Obi Actually Break The Law? by djon78(m): 1:08pm On Oct 06, 2021 |
Toks007: Go and learn English He is a joint owner But Nigerian constution protects those involved in joint ownership of a company So an individual serving public must disclose his ownership in a single company But he can't disclose joint ownership because same constution protects others involved in the company from disclosing there identity So Peter obi committed no Crime I think the problem of most of you is ignorance I am not a lawyer but I read business law and tax laws as a course during my undergraduate days People ignorant of an issue will come online and be talking of what they have to clue about And this is the major problem in our clime; many ignorant folks all around |

My dad is Yoruba and my mum is hausa. But truth be told obi is the best plug for presidency right now, that's why they are finding a way to pull him down. |

TheSupleemLeada: Why did the journalist fail to tell you that Mr. Peter Obi stole the money? Investing personal (not looted) money in tax havens is a common legitimate practice among the rich globally and it will continue to happen. So you guys have sorely missed an opportunity to nail your nemesis, the man whose name you envy so much. |
Re: Did Peter Obi Actually Break The Law? by kelly72: 2:11pm On Oct 06, 2021 |
If you actually believe this man is a saint then you should as well believe Tinubu's real age is 69 Give your own analysis if you even know what to write. |

stinechykee: For the sake of clearity and peace I apologize if anyone has made you feel less or bad base on tribal matters. If people go low you go high. Lack of expose or enlightenment is one of the problem we have in Nigeria. If you have lived outside Nigeria you will find out that our diversity is only a problem with the walls of the country. Nigerian are Nigerian outside nothing like igbo, yoruba or hausa. So let try and educate and correct the tribalism mentality. Even if we separate this idealogy will be a problem for all of us to grow if we don't respect each other |

Emmypure: Exactly That's what many people can't see Peter obi is the man Nigeria needs now Nigerian economy is in shambles Peter has what it takes to fix Nigeria The ipob problem Only an Igbo Man will deal ruthlessly with ipob Ipob if not tamed will cause a terrible problem for this nation Many igbos detest ipob Peter can settle this issue for once |

SlyDev:Did you say that Igbo youths are suffering? You can say that of any other tribe but not Igbos. Igbo youths dị not wait for govt or any godfather to feed them. In fact Igbos generally have the highest percentage of persons living above the poverty line. So what is your case? |

Honestly, Nigerians like you make me sick! I have never even been a fan of Tinubu, so why attribute him to my comment? Find below Peter’s past hypocritical demand for transparency, while he deliberately hid wealth that was possibly ill gotten. If we have to take Nigeria back from evil APC & their twin in PDP, it is not people like Peter Obi that will rescue Nigeria! https://theeagleonline.com.ng/management-of-covid-19-in-nigeria-not-transparent-peter-obi/ https://m.guardian.ng/news/obi-duke-youths-call-for-transparency-and-accountability-in-governance/ https://www.newtelegraphng.com/obi-tasks-leaders-on-transparency-accountability/ https://metrowatchonline.com/peter-obi-tasks-nigerian-leaders-on-transparency-accountability-as-africa-marks-anti-corruption-day/ Foolishbuhari: |

poiZon:The Thiefnuubu they all worship was so poor he was living in a rented apartment and only owned one weather beaten Peugeot 505 hence he was using Ganiyu Solomon's cars during his campaigns. Late Yinka Odumakin said all that and more in a recent interview. Yet they want to compare him to Peter Obi |
Re: Did Peter Obi Actually Break The Law? by 0m0nnakoda: 6:58pm On Oct 06, 2021 |
BlueRayDick: So Tinubu got a perpetual injunction stopping his trial? When? Where? Tinubu was actually tried, discharged and acquitted for one of the alleged offences Obi committed? This is NOTHING to do with TAX The law in Nigeria criminalizes running foreign bank accounts. Did he do that yes or no? The law criminalizes false declaration of assets did Obi do that yes or no? Those are the issues NOTHING to do with Odili NOTHING to do with Odili |

Nazareth10:Based on what? Another delusion Igbos are suffering We saw them at the burial of Cubana's mother. We see them queueing for kerosene and we see them when IPOB destroy their wares Yes like all Nigerians they are suffering and they are the highest internal refugees in Nigeria |
