Get a drone and fly at night, this will solve all bunkering problem, but I guess its rocket science to deal with this.

I'm really scared of breathing-in in the mornings.

My conspiracy theory states that this started as soon as buhari became president(make of it whatever you will like to).

Lol, have you been to Ahoada recently, what of Omoku.
Don't say what you don't know, moreover flaring gas is mostly clean combustion these days except the power pack of the combustion chamber fails. This is as a result of incomplete combustion from bunkery activities and possibly failed combustion systems from nearby gas plants, but mostly bunkery from the Ahoda asix.

Yes Bro, Ahoada and Omoku are now the hotbed of bunkering!
But guess who the main buyers, sponsors and where the bunkered oil is taken to? Sulejah, Kaduna, Kano, Maiduguri, Niger Republic

Who else noticed the very dark rainfall that occurred in certain parts of Rivers state today due to the consequences of illegal bunkering activities in the state.

Everything is not money , Federal and State government should treat bunkery activities as a case of urgency. We can't be suffering due to the activities of few miscreants, almost every one in PH treats malaria every two weeks.

This pictures were taken around two in the afternoon, but it looks like around six in the evening

Oga have you used gas and have you used firewood or diesel to cook b4, there is a big difference.
Except the oxygen fuel ratio is not correct , gas burns clean with minimal soot , what it generates is heat, what we have these days is heavy soot, generating smog in the air because of its density.
This is mostly due to bunkery.

Gbam.

OP you're a government agent.

Because its not illegal bunkering that causes that soothe.

It's GAS FLARING
And guess who flares gas? Federal Government of Nigeria.

So essentially the wealth of this country that fuels the Nigerian Fulani hegemony comes at the cost of SE and SS lives and prosperity.

As usual the parasites will blame anything but themselves.

Bro.... No doubt gas flaring contributes to the soot, but this recent PH soot is 90% contributed by oil bunkering. All bushes surrounding Portharcourt and whole of Rivers state from Eleka to Oyigbo to all Eleme forests, Nchia forests, Omok, Borokri, Abua, Ahoada, Ogoni, Onneh, everywhere u can think of around Portharcourt is dominated by bunkerers, they don't hide it in anyway, they boil the crude with firewood, bring out the diesel and kerosene and still boil the bitumen and sell. These ppl has gained so much ground that they supply to oil companies and even filling stations. 7out of every filling station in Portharcourt here sell these fake diesel and u can never get a good kero in Rivers state. In the area where I stay, only one filling station sell good kero, others will even tell u that it's kpo fire kero.
The worst is that the air has been badly damaged and dirty now in Rivers state here. In the morning hours, everywhere the dust, air, wind will be smelling like raw coaltar, it takes about 8hours into mid day for the thick black cloud of spots to clear a little and can never clear well till the end of the day. I've vowed to quickly leave this town as fast as possible. If u sneeze here, the stuff that comes out of it nose will be thick black, especially in d morning hours. If u paint your house, black soot will stain it in 4 weeks, if you spread clothes outside, when they're dried, black dusts will fill around it, if it rains, all the floods are black. And you'll always wake up to see cloud of black soots saturate the sky with no place to escape to, they're trapped already & can't disperse anymore. I heard even their governor empower & hail them, some are working for the politicians and chiefs here. Too bad.
Warri & Akwaibom has Oil as much as Portharcourt has, warri too has refinery & any gas plants, they do bunkering too but is still very much controlled. pH own is the worst in the world.

Do you realize that gas flaring contributes more to this than illegal bunkering?
Only time illegal bunkering may add to the black soot is if there was a fire outbreak.
This black soot, and the consequent black rain is solely due to gas flaring...which in turn is due to irresponsible FG.

Also, do you realize that FG imports gas, but still allows foreign oil companies to flare the same gas the country could have made money from?

Get your facts right.

Or are you confusing bunkery with illegal refinery done in the creeks?

You are probably an agent of the boys operating illegal refineries in the creeks of Rivers State or an technical illiterate who doesn't know that the legal gas flaring in oil installation is efficiently done to minimize soot formation. While the creek boys are using very crude and basic methods to just heat up the oil, leading to wastage and heavy soot formation.
Since the oil is stolen anyway, they can afford to burn away a large quantity as soot and sell the little petrol and kerosene produced.
So get your facts right and stop stinking up the discussion with your illiterate diatribe.

You are the typical numbskull, who opens his mouth on Nairaland to comment on topics they can't comprehend technically.
@ Tarorfeeek is very wrong. Gas flaring is efficiently done and has been done since the 1960's in Nigerians Oil industry.
If you reside in PH, the problem of soot in the air started when so called Niger Delta militants started making money via local stolen crude distillation using crude refinery methods.
They turned to local Refining of crude when the Navy successfully blocked them from selling to foreign ships anchored offshore Nigerian coast buying stolen crude oil.
Recently the soot has increased because every Tom Dick and Harry in the creeks around PH fabricate local drums to heat up the stolen crude and get petrol and kerosene out of it, usually inefficiently with 60% soot production.
There is a reason the low grade petrol produced by the creek boys is called "Asari Fuel".

Several researches have shown that those crudely refined fuels in the creek had higher octane values than the imported varieties.
A topic I can't comprehend technically?

Oga Sharrap there... Stop talking audacious nonsense. Illegal refineries are responsible for black soothe not gas flaring. Though both are bad.
