. Did his lawyers write a letter to the judge on this matter? Did he issue a release to that effect? Did he inform the judge in writing why he ran away and express willingness to return if his safety is guaranteed? This defense may be trivial and difficult to accept even if he had a good reason to run away. The court may look at it as an aftertought
