Or, how "Only me can fix Nigeria", Lesson 247 by Nasir El'Rufai.
Mallam is always propounding the most extreme policies ; from sacking half of the national civil service, to complete divestment of the state from all profit making areas of the economy to firing the entire police force and subsequently rehiring them based on an examination ; all these can work in a lab situation, not in the real world.
Even this hypothesis is badly flawed.
Having business elites being more synergistic with politicians is a recipe for disaster, esp in a democracy with weak judicial institutions. Dangotr and his various subsidiaries baleful influence on govt policy is already costing Nigerians uncountable amounts.
Hasn't it being the anti-elitist sentiment that has caused Brexit, and brought so-called "populists" like Trump and Bolsanaro to power ? It's this opaque relationship between big business and politicians that has seen a desire for proto-fascist leadership and violent political sectarianism in the West.
Nigerians already feel disenfranchised and Mallam's solution is to bring into the equation ppl who's only interest would be the bottom line ?
It's precisely bc Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama were perceived as doing the bidding of the banksters that their policies were deemed out of touch.
In a developing nation his prescription would be a disaster.
Rather, it's the exact opposite; strong regulatory institutions with fewer recurrent expend civil servants running them.
