Nigerians and misinterpretation, not having up to 500k in your bank account doesn't mean you are poor.

Some Nigerians prefer mobile banks, some are into crypto investment like block chain, while some prefer street ways of saving money(if you know what I mean)

This is common sense now. The people are barely existing and you want them to save.
People that spend more than half of their bills on feeding talkless of other spendings like utilities will rarely save.
Tell your useless government to do the basics.

Please note that having money in your account is different from your worth. Many salary earners who earn top salaries are involved in building projects e.t.c and other businesses that means you just keeping money in your account might not be worth it.

So no be say people no get money o, but them no just dey keep am for account.
Even at that it is still quite alarming, because it simply means take home are only good for consumption

The report says the average expected from each account is 500k

And if you factor the fact many persons even receive #50k monthly then we need to work more ooo.

Though maybe the Advent of new tech are also affecting the figures Sha

But even if we add all together I don't think we can get up to 10% which makes it still very bad.

The headline is misleading.

What was written in the headline is different from the content.

The content of the article didn't say 99.4% Of Bank accounts contain less than 500k

What was written in the article was that 99.4% of Bank accounts are insured and that the N500,000 insurance coverage limit fully covered 99.4% of depositors incase any bank goes bankrupt. In my opinion That is good news.

the NDIC’s maximum coverage limits is N500,000.00 per depositor per commercial, merchant and, non-interest bank, primary mortgage bank and mobile money operator and N200,000.00 per depositor per microfinance bank.

What does that mean:

If you have 10 naira or 75 naira in your bank account, you are insured up to 500k, once you have more than 500k in your account, if the bank goes bankrupt, you will only get insurance on your 500k.

For those who have more than 500k, lets say 1 million in a single account, the best way to protect yourself is to have 2 accounts and then put the 500k in one account and 500k in another account, that way you are protected and insured by the ndic.

I disagree with these statistics.

NDIC know they are not up to the task of ensuring depositors fund.

Buhari and APC only came to steal, to kill and to destroy. Satanic agenda and nothing more. They have succeeded in improverishing Nigerians. Now they are strategizing on how to Continue in 2023. Nigerians should use their sense and reject them and PDP . We have credible and capable Nigerians across the length and breadth of this country all they want is our votes.

Let leave empty bank account aside for now let talk about our environment, our individual houses we live, cars use by Nigerians for those who can afford, electronic gadgets we use in our various houses, our schools, our hospitals, clothes we wear a lot of Nigerians can't afford to buy new designer clothes, our food we eat while some people can't even eat 3 times a day, How many times have we gone for shopping, for holidays to another part of our country, Are we not poor??
Nigerian corrupt politicians are the only one enjoying in this country.
