Before the coming of the white man, cannabis was legal. The same white man that criminalised cannabis has legalised it in their own country, but our people are the ones now carrying the cannabis ban on their heads. God, please give us sense in this country.

Last time I checked, cannabis is illegal in the United States and most western countries

Bob Marley's classic tune "Rat Race", contains these immortal lyrics

"In the abundance of water, the fool is thirsty."

In the abundance of cannabis wealth being reaped by fellow African nations, Nigeria is hungry.

You need to stop checking your news at the local ogogoro bar. Try reading for a change. Cannabis is LEGAL in NUMEROUS states in the USA.

In Netherlands you refer to, the people are not thinking of how to eat at least one meal a day.

In Nigeria , the guy that has smoked cannabis on empty stomach will more likely commit crime to feed to at least have a day's meal.

You dey mind them.
We Nigerian that sabi how to abuse everything?

They are only after their pockets because once its legalized,no more free awoof money made from raiding spots,n corners..no more kickbacks from influencial drug lords,no more settlement for produce interstate export etc..

They are wailing because their greedy n selfish asses are are bout to get roasted

There is billions of dollars to be made.
Economic diversification, jobs, and foreign revenue.

Djibouti and Uganda are currently making millions from it, exporting to Europe.

Nigerian govt does not love their citizens more than the Europeans love their own citizens.
Can we maintain the standard of those countries you mentioned

Legalising weed will not solve Nigeria's problem. Instead, it will make it worse as more people will get addicted.

Besides, if we are considering the income the government can generate from it, they are much better and safer ways to go about. We don't have to destroy our society more than it currently is to achieve this.

In the United States alone, the Cannabis Industry is valued at over $60 billion, and will hit over $70 billion by 2028.
The seeds of Marijuana can replace your petroleum.
Do your research - Google is your friend.
Legalize it!
Legalize it!!
Legalize it!!!
Modified
Lemme educate you a little....
In the United States only 18 states legalize it for recreational use while 36 for medical use.

And sorry, it can't replace oil because it can't even generate half the price of oil a day.

Just look at your stats, they're are valued to have $60billion per annum. While oil revenue is at 12.23million barrel per day . Please do the maths.

We can avail ourselves of the economic and medical gains of cannabis, but we must never let it be uncontrolled.

Cannibis, in the wrong hand, is a disaster. And because the country is so corrupt, and due to this corruption, it would be impossible to control cannabis use.

So, Marwa is right to have reservations about the legalization of cannabis.

More likely?
How do you know this? What evidence do you have?
Most people who commit crime do not do so because they are hungry many are already belleful. If you have money to buy AK 47 for robbery or kidnapping you are not hungry

Leave that hunger argument and find something sensible to say

What else should be banned? Alcohol, cigarettes?
Many things may be undesirable but the question is does banning work?
In a country where even soldiers and police deal in weed. Who is going to enforce the ban?
Do we have enough prisons in the whole world for weed smokers in Nigeria?

The law against weed is for poor people only in Nigeria.

Agreed... The problem is not even legalization of these drugs but the fact that people will abuse them and that's the fear.

And do you think people are not abusing like this sef, a lot of youths D's days are on one drugs or the other

It simply shows that his agency has failed, perhaps if we legalize it could be controlled better, govt can always hold the union responsible, so that way they make sure it doesn't spill.

And who is the better qualified person sir?

I am sure there are officials who have had training specifically for illegal drugs. Some would have had overseas training as well.

Each security agency deals with a specific problem and NDLEA is drugs. Buba Marwa is an ex-soldier.

What the country needs most is someone who can think outside the box. Simply arresting drug dealers isn't enough.

stop being shallow, we will be importing products made from the cannabis in the distant future, that is how we operate, you have crude you import petrol , kerosine, diesel and the rest. You don't refine your crude, you cannot refine it ,even to ship it to where they will buy,you don't have any ship made in your country with Nigerian sailors
