The real issue here is the electronic transmission of results buhari and his supporters are scared of it.

Nah. That's not the issue. If that is, then the NASS should remove ONLY the direct primaries clause and send it back and see if it won't be signed. Kaduna used electronic transmission successfully. Na Hell-Rufai dey there and still didn't say shit. They're not afraid of electronic transmission

81 in private.

When it comes to actual voting in the full glare of the camera, the number will reduce to an inconsequential status.

All it takes is to dust their files with the EFCC.

Some of you can't seem to read the plain reasons in political issues. It boils down to leverage. Direct primaries afford a candidate the opportunity to test is or her popularity directly without being subjected to the influence of power brokers.the senators are in support because they feel there governor's have an undue influence and control over their nominations or ticket. While the power brokers feel that indirect primaries are needed for consensus and better being able to present a candidate acceptable to all. Both sides have their advantages and also their disadvantages.
But in this particular aspect. It's all about 2023.
Tinubus group needs the direct primaries for him to stand a chance. While his opponents needs the Indirect primaries to finish him totally

Case closed!

Metrix147:
Following the decision of President Muhammadu Buhari to decline assent to the 2021 Amended Electoral Bill, 81 out of 109 Senators on Tuesday indicated interest to veto the President.

ABN TV had brought you a report that the Senate dissolved into a closed session at 1:57 pm on Tuesday to discuss the reasons given by the President for declining his assent the 2010 Electoral Act (amendments) Bill 2021.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2uWdFQ4V6-Y
The president, in a letter to the Senate President, Ahmad Lawan, cited insecurity and the cost of conducting direct primaries in political parties, as his reasons for rejecting the bill.

The letter was read out by Mr Lawan at the start of plenary on Tuesday.

In the bill, passed by the National Assembly in October, the lawmakers passed that political parties should adopt direct mode of primaries in choosing candidates for elective offices.

This provision had stirred rift between the lawmakers and governors – who disagreed with the idea of direct primaries.

The lawmakers were about to consider and pass the 2022 budget when Mr Sekibo asked that the Senate goes into an executive session to discuss the president’s veto.

“I want to call this Senate to go into a closed-door session to discuss the president’s letter today, “he said.

The lawmaker said it is important that they discuss the issue and decide the next line of action before embarking on Christmas break.

Political neophyte with no independent thoughts of his own.
You are just parroting Wike's delusion without thinking.
Let them remove the clause under argument, and see if the president will not sign.

I agree with some of the things you said. But stop believing that direct primaries allows the candiates to test their popularity in the Nigerian context cos it's more fraudulent and easy to manipulate cos you don't know the number of people that will be voting.
Look at what Ahmed gulak did in IMO State.
Look at the primaries APC conducted in anambra and osun state.

Your comment is valueless in the first place. I am just usually peeved at the tangent you take on critical national issues all the while posturing as a patriot.
What has Malami got to do with the President exercising the powers of his office that you have suddenly entwined him in this matter?

Is Malami also responsible for old grazing routes the president wants restored?
Is he the one who said "you can't sit down in Lagos and determine zoning"?
When same Buhari deliberately declined assent to the 2018 electoral bill, you did not blame Malami then. How come Malami is to blame now?

I'm really shocked that politics can reduce an educated and sane individual to such level of silly prejudice and wilful blindness.
