At the University of Transportation in Daura, Katsina State, work is slow with only few building s completed. The idea of breaking the projects into phases did not sit well with the Minister. The Hon. Minister of Transportation, Rt. Hon. Chibuike R Amaechi directed that the projects must be completed and inaugurated in record time... “The expectation is that by now they should have been able to complete nearly all the buildings but they said they are doing it in phases. “If they continue at that pace it will take like 10 years for them to complete all the buildings. “We have invited them to the office on Tuesday to explain why instead of taking the buildings at the same time, they are taking just two hostels, two classrooms,. That is not enough. “The entire thing we agreed with them was that they were going to do a project worth $50million both management and construction and they have not done that here. “They chose to do what they consider to be phase 1 and they said by next year when they admit students, they would be constructing the phase 2,” Amaechi said. According to the minister, the project upon completion will be managed by the Chinese for a period of five years after which it will be handed over to the government. Stop giving contracts to the Chinese. They cannot be trusted but African leaders will not listen. If they had given the contract to Julius Berger, they would have gotten the job done and done it well. 1 Like |

Stupid leadership. Amechi does not belive in the ability of Nigerians. Nigerians can build those building. Why use the Chinese. Will the Chinese ever give Nigerians a building contract. We dont need politicians like this in Naija. If the Chinese govt was relying on the west for const works till this day. The Chinese wot get to this stage. Nigeria GOVT need to grow up. 5 Likes |
