Whether you hate or love him there is no doubt Bola Tinubu is one the greatest political strategist the African continent has produced by hook or crook. However, the biggest threat to his ambition comes from his immediate family; his wife, Remi Tinubu and daughter, Folashade Tinubu. His son Seyi Tinubu and heir to the throne, chooses to maintain a low profile and stay in the background. During the last election in Lagos state that saw thugs disrupt election in perceived strongholds by igbos in Lagos, Remi Tinubu was caught on tape saying they didn't trust igbo's giving credence to critics who say it was the Tinubu's that sent thugs to attack and destroy polling booths in Igbo's stronghold. This has alienated the Igbo vote for Tinubu that may have come in handy if the election were to be close with the PDP presidential candidate, despite the fact his supporters state their 5% votes are inconsequential. You have his daughter Folashade Tinubu who has brought many negative headlines, that had the Tinubu name splashed around the country for imposition of market leaders, using thugs to harass traders and imposing levies. This has not helped Bola Tinubu who has faced the similar allegations his daughter is accused of in the way he runs the state as the godfather. Buhari should manipulate NASS to cancel or prospone next year election and made Tinubu head of Interim National Government with seven members, each from geopolitical zone and Abuja. I think Tinubu is interested in being addressed as one of the past head of government. Tinubu would be happy in governing Nigeria for just 24 hours. Since 1999, those who won presidential elections were marketed by power brokers. In 2015, Buhari was marketed and packaged by Tinubu. Who will package and market Tinubu? Self-marketing and self-packaging wouldn't make Tinubu president. |
