This is the kind of topic that we need on the front page... We the Citizen needs to expose them the LASTMA & Police on this issue of One Way that are secretly created for inflicting cost on the Citizen. This has become a norm in Lagos. If you travel to neighboring states, one way are clearly indicated by sign-post. The Concerned Citizens Group of Nigeria should be concerned on this matter. My suggestion is that let the Citizen start to erect One-Way Sign post at those Junctions, Close roads, Streets and routes to expose those naughty LASTMA & Police One-Way Operators. The Govt won't erect those signpost in order to frustrate vehicle owner under the guise of punishing offenders. There are place you can park in front of your office. Imagine a client park, or an applicant comes with a car for an interview, only for his or her car to be tolled for packing. What explanation do u have for such instance. Meanwhile, the same stupid-idiot tolled one of Dangote cars, the office has been locked for the past three month.. No operation since.... That is to tell you how thing goes in this country.... |

Wasky101: What saner climes are you talking about. People make legit mistakes and are sometimes confused. Do you extort them?. My wife was driving in downtown Calgary about 5 years ago and the road signs were confusing . She ended up on one way facing oncoming traffics. The police came and she explained to them, they stoped traffic and excorted her out of the situation. No fine and no tickets. Lastma are legit thugs who extort people. 200,000? WTF! Remind me never to drive in Lagos. 9 Likes |

Skyview01: You see. Explain and tell the person to use an alternative route. If he then insists. Then he needs to be arrested or fined This particular road i was on posed no danger to any commuter there is no on coming traffic. I even followed a vehicle into it. The vehicle disappeared. Like I was lured into the road. |

The truth is sometimes u can actually win these guys, let them charge you to a mobile court, defend yourself if truly u didn't see any one way sign, u'll win your case. The truth is they feed on our ignorance most times. Mobile court will not collect an amount as high as 200k for some traffic offence. 1 Like 1 Share

joyandfaith: If am part of the corrupt system, why did you give bribe why not sure them and make a case there was no sign showing one way? You would have left your car there, take pi tires of your car (in case of any damage later)and those who stopped you. Your lawyer will file a case on your behalf during LASMA or Lagos State if need be. Why didn't you go through all this process Why You have no time to waste or money to process or file a case or you don't have a lawyer. You have all these options and you tell me am corrupt |

My advice here is, Nigerian drivers should strive hard and have functional cameras discreetly Installed in their vehicle front and back. In my case I informed the two officers I have evidence that there is no ‘no parking’ sign post and I was ready to follow them all the way to court. I did not Pay a naira. 200K can buy you working camera and installation. |
