5 Irrelevant Or Harmful Information You Should Not Include In Your CV by DonPagli: 2:17pm On Feb 04, 2022
Despite the lots of career advice out there, many entry (and even experienced) career individuals still include irrelevant information in their CV.

Here's a quick run down of information you should not include in your CV, either because they are no longer relevant with the times or will never improve your chances or will even outright harm your job application.

1. Sensitive Personal Information: We see lots of CVs that have too much information and this is not for the good of the candidate. Don't include personal or sensitive information that can be used to commit fraud against you eg ID no, license details or any personal identification details outside your email and phone number

2. Information that May Be Used to Discriminate Against You: Again people still put stuff like Religion, etc in their CV. In the modern world reasonable employers (more especially reputable employers) don't care a hoot whether you are a Hinduist, Christian or Muslim. You should not be giving employers information that is no longer relevant.

3. Salary Information: Don't include any information on past or current salaries. There is no point until you get to the interview stage.

4. Empty Buzzwords: Some people think fluffy sentences and buzzwords may make them appear smarter. Nothing is further from the truth. Keep your words and sentences simple and effective.

5. Headshots or Photographs: Unless you are applying or doing a CV for jobs like modelling, acting etc where looks are part of the consideration there is no point including your photo in your CV.
