NATO/US is not going to engage Russia in war over Ukraine. NATO/US will not be drawn into a nuclear war with Russia because of Ukraine. Biden has made it clear, he said, 'there is no plan to send US troops to Ukraine to rescue US citizens, if war break out'. Ignore the part where he said, if its citizens are harmed, that Russia will pay. Missiles are not intelligent enough to differentiate between US citizens & Ukrainians. He is doing is best. He has told them to leave, when they can.

Remember US troops were killed in Afghanistan and nothing happened. They call it collateral damage.

The only country that I can say USA respects their military is Russia. The last time China threatened Taiwan, USA just moved 2 aircraft carriers to the China sea and UK parked their own on Taiwan coast. All this to intimidate China.
