I remember vividly the good times I had in that beautiful island city of Bonny far back when the beautiful people would come hawking "Asondu", fresh fish that is, in the early ours of the morning at your doorsteps without having to go the market.

Where coming into the Island from the Bonny Waterside, Creek Road, Port Harcourt, was adrenaline sapping as the boat drivers display their dexterity in handling their boats against the massive waves of the Atlantic Ocean.

When this road is eventually completed and put to use, the ease of traveling by land and the relief to the people would be indescribable.

What was once thought of as impossible is gradually becoming possible.

This deserves commendation to the Government (Federal and State Government) and all involved in this massive project!

Kudos!

This is the kind of challenging task HE Fashola loves. PMB really got the best man for the job.

God bless Nigeria for ever.

What is challenging here?

What does it take to get this job done?
Is it getting the best professionals to come up with the best ideas on what to do or is it releasing the funds to the right and best contractors to get the job done?

With the availability of resources, even a dunce with will power can do this with ease if he surrounds himself with the right people who are qualified to do the job.

Stop hyping mediocrity. There is nothing special about fashola.

I hope to visit Bonny Island some day

No big deal. Not different from any other Nigerian semi rural town.

The money for the project was borrowed.
What people prefer is that the price of goods stop rising every week.
They also wants to be able to drive safely through highways.
Farmers wants to return to their homes and not the IDP camps many are currently
condemned to courtesy of illiterate herders.

Borrowed from who?

WONDERFUL. ONLY PROBLEM IS THAT THAT BEAUTIFUL ISLAND WILL SOON CHANGE FOR THE WORSE BECAUSE OF INFLUX OF SOME NON-INDIGENES.

BUT LET ME! NIGERIA HAS SO MANY QUALIFIED CIVIL AND STRUCTURAL ENGINEERS AND STILL GRADUATE HUNDREDS OF THOUSANDS EVERY YEAR. WHY ARE WE NOT ENGAGING THEM IN SOME OF THESE KINDS OF JOBS? WHY ARE ALL THE MAJOR PROJECTS IN THIS COUNTRY EITHER BY JULIUS BERGER OR THE CHINESE?

ABI NA JUJU DEM DO US?

The 21 storey building that collapsed in Banana Island...wasn't that done by a Nigerian company?

A Nigerian company will use one bag of cement to do all the columns holding that bridge

This is a massive project.

Buhari is Nigeria's best president.

If we talk am, people wey neva leave their village or Local Government go start to they run their mouths.

If you have travelled through speedboat from Nembe waterside to Bonny Island, and experienced firsthand the magnitude of the risks people have to face to get in and out of Bonny Island, you would understand what Buhari is doing.

This project is a welcome development.

It was not funny when I had to use ferry to travel from PH to Bonny Island by open ferry some years back.

Kudos to the project financiers.

Unfortunately some people would have preferred that the money for this project be shared in the days of the PDP. The looters will then trickle down crumbs to the improvished. That's their concept of a working government as'money is going round well'. Very pathetic!

Walahi...e dey pain me as Buhari tenure dey wind down.

That man is one of the best things that happened to Nigeria.

I can only trust Fashola, Zulum, Marwa or myself to deliver at the level Buhari has done.

We really need to fix Nigeria, and end this 'share the money' mentality. Travel abroad and you would realize how we are yet to start as a country. Our infrastructural deficit alone is unthinkable.

PDP was indeed a curse to Nigeria. May God punish them wherever they are.

Nigeria are a rare breed among humans I must admit. Out of a thousand of your obligations as a president, execute just one and watch them forgive you and forget about the Nine hundred and ninety-nine you didn’t do. With all the money this administration have borrowed, both hundreds of millions of euros, dollars and pounds received during covid19 from IMF and foreign NGOs. This administration hasn’t done shit to me!

The infrastructure are money sink hole.
Many won't last 4 years and will require billions to maintain
while the original debt isn't yet paid.

Can you list great nations who sacrifice citizens life and wellbeing to build infrastructure?

Bros, what is your argument here...

The greatest cou tries in the world invested in infrastructure during some of the most terrible wars. Those infrastructure paved way for them. Would you rather they steal this money?

This project is being sponsored by NLNG and assisted by Federal government. I don’t think Federal government has paid their own part of the money. Mind you NLNG is not fully owned by Nigeria. Please stop praising this present administration. The glory should go to Abacha because it was his time that NLNG was built.

The infrastructure you see today will bring succor later. That's the sacrifice great nation took and y'all can see the results now. Buhari ain't perfect but he try in many areas.
Infrastucture alone will not bring succour. More important is people. We are not investing in our people's education or health.

We do not have quality people

Our young people are bandits, fraudsters and drug barons violent and criminal. Mostly unemployable.

How many months have universities been on strike under this government? Doctors and nurses are leaving in droves.
We borrow from China and last year we imported nearly $30 billion from them What do they buy from us

On the theme of Human Development when will Julius Berger start having black project managers

.Not everything is concrete an steel. Human development is more important

Julius Berger came from Germany

Germany was destroyed by bombardment in 1945 but quickly recovered and is the number one economy in Europe today. Why? Quality people .Same for Japan

Infrastructure is useless without security and economic stability. The fact that Buhari has taken external loans of nearly $40 billion yet the combined infrastructure spend is less than $5 billion.

The priority should have been energy security, fixing the refineries and electricity power plants

Technically, the road is a massive undertaking with many construction challenges due to the low lying marshy area, muddy and swampy soil conditions and considerable tidal movements

Google causeway Bridge

We just like giving excuses not to get things done

There are countries that are below sea level with full infrastructure
A lot of you guys on Nairaland are just something else

Julius Berger dey talk about how the environment be, you're here saying Government loves giving excuse.
