alabo1:That Russia's gas is cheaper doesn't mean they cannot do without it. Your second sentence reeks of unsound reasoning. And 7 times cheaper is an exaggeration coming from your imagination. The big players in Europe have started with their sanctions already. Germany has put a halt to the Nord 2 certification. Uk has been in the forefront of pursuing an exit of Russia from the Swift payment platform. |

Una Sabi make empty daring!! Why make it seem it's d first time ure hearing of invasion How many nations rushed to join NATO wen US invaded certain nations? How many joined on d supposed invasion of Crimea? Meanwhile, I wonder if nations truly keep to diz sanctions, if not, Russia has been on sanctions from time immemorial. Or has it been like dat of Nigerian govt banning Twitter?(wen actually Twitter neva exited naija). Don't be decieved, every nation thinks first of himself. pargelenis: What exactly do you have to say, in your own brain? Spill it, let us hear it, let us check it out against FACTS in the public domain, maybe we can learn one or two things from you..... that is if you are not more ignorant than the people you call "Putin-lovers"? Self Preservation (a.k.a Right to Life), is the preserve of every humanbeing and nation. In the UK, the law has proved that "An English man's Castle, is his Home". If you come to his Home to threaten him or endanger his life, he has the right to shoot you dead. America has a similar Law, called "Stand you Ground". Russia is facing an existential threat from Ukraine because: 1) It has turned itself into a hostile territory and a staging Post for attack against Russia, by allowing NATO (an alliance of avowed Russian enemies) to install offensive Weapons in Ukraine 2) It is inflicting Genocide on Ethnic Russians living within Ukraine 3) there was agreement in 2014 and then in 2015 (called Minsk 1 and Minsk 2 agreements) that is supposed to provide a pathway for resolution of the "Dombass Conflict" between Ukraine and the Ethnic Russians living within Ukraine, who are indigenous to that area of Dombass but guess what? Ukraine refused to implement the agreement it singed and continued to use excessive miliatry force, against those Ethnic Russians 4) Ukrainian Supremacist, Nazis banded together to form a Militia called the Arzov battalion, they go around killing anyone who spoke Russian language in Ukraine. Russian has been protesting against this since 2014. These same Neo-Nazis overthrew the democratically elected President and Govt of Ukraine (Maidan Revolution) simply because that President wanted a good relationship between his country and Russia! 5) NATO Alliance signed an agreement in the 1990's, when USSR imploded, not to expand Eastwards towards Russia but right now, Ukraine is the only remaining country, apart from Belarus, surrounding Russia, that is not a NATO member. NATO has assimilated all of them, encircled Russia and stationed weapons in those country, thereby threatening Russia's Existence. We could go on and on but in all these, for the past Eight years, Russia has been exploring Peaceful means to resolve the "Security problem" this actions in Ukraine, were presenting to his country, Ofcourse, they were doing all these nonsense with the backing of America. Russia has written Letters, after Letters, has the UN to act but America and its NATO members are determined not to stop, until they conquer Russia and if that happens, it will be a disaster for the World. Having One Bully on the Bloc is bad, we should have at least TWO Bullies, so that they can restrain each other otherwise, "chickens" like Libya will be overrun without any challenge. Those of us that are able to see "the Bigger Picture", know that this Invasion of Ukraine is inevitable. Now, the useless President Zelensky of Ukraine wants to negotiate! Negotiation is good, but it must be done from a position of Strength. Russia will disarm Ukraine first, and then that Negotiation that it has refused to do wince 2014, will take place on Russia's terms. BTW, Putin is an admirable world leader, like it or not. He is matter than the next five, world leaders rolled into one. The facts speak for themselves, from how he has taken Russia, from a conquered nation when the USSR was intentionally imploded by Western Powers, to how he has been able to sustain Russian-growth, despite unrelenting Western Sanctions, to how he has been able to develop Russia, militarily and technologically and the most annoying one, is how he shows of his personal attributes, from being a Senior Black belt Judoka, to being a Champion Chess Player, etc. Who in his right senses, will not admire such a personality or do you want to compare him to "Sleepy Joe" in America or your own "Baba Go-Slow" in Nigeria? 2 Likes |

shogsman: That is the government. What about the people. Is the government going to feed them with oil and gas. What about medicines, science and tech, commerce, industrial goods, banking services, education and whatever makes a nation competitive and prosperous. When a country is sanctioned, the people will suffer and that is what makes for instability, not the government or the few individuals in it. There will be huge job losses in all sectors, jobs the government will not be able to replace. That is what matters. Russia as a nation (not necessarily as a country) will be worse off. The sanctions they have gone through these past years over Crimea had already done a lot of damage to the people, keeping a whole swathe of them in penury while the rest of Europe has generally kept above water. It is only in a totalitarian society that the security of a country is more important than the security of its citizens, its nationals, the nation. Most Russians want to be closer to Europe and in the future when the Soviet era generation is gone they will eventually join the EU. Putin's time is coming to a gradual end and he knows it.... why the last kicks of a dying horse. 1 Like |

Forumobserver12: This is not a matter of being happy or sad. It's a matter of national and collective interest. We told you for the umpteenth time that Putin's concerns is legit but you want to downgrade, minimize or at best, turn a blind eye to that. That is what humans always do. Belittle your concerns and tell you to get a grip on humanity. Whatever sovereignity, statehood Ukraine enjoys is a product of USSR's willpower (now, majorly, Russia), so why not allow a referendum to decide if Eastern Ukrainians who are eyhnically Russians want to remain or not. Is Union by force? You weren't forced to be a part of Russia and you would not let ethnic Russians be. What you don't understand is, Russian is more yhan a language - it is an identity. Even in Nigeria, imagine meeting your yribesman in a different region. The familiarity is there and different, not always but most times, so why must Putin be restricted from liberating his very own people from ethnic Ukrainine - which I would assume is a Russian dialect- from the tyranny of Ukraine government? Don't they have tiggts to make demands? I particularly enjoyed a part of this article ....Putin indicated he was not interested in lengthy negotiations on the topic. "It is you who must give us guarantees, and you must do it immediately, right now," he said at his annual news conference late last year. "Are we deploying missiles near the US border? No, we are not. It is the United States that has come to our home with its missiles and is already standing at our doorstep." https://www.nairaland.com/7002684/what-does-putin-really-want Putin is a man, a real man, a fine man with iron balls. The world needs checks and balances against immense power and he is one of those who has been put here to curb and check excess foolishness by the West. Do they think every valid opinion and stance starts and end with them? For crying out loud, no. |

Russia is a Brics nation, they have deal in place with growing economy like Brazil, India, China and South Africa. Nigeria lobbied a few years to join the Brics nation when they founding countries wanted one country from the Africa continent, but opted for South Africa for reasons best known to them. |

Nonpartisan1:Story. The attached Pic is old just like that of Zelensky in military attire... Your entire postulation is not correct. China, Iran and most Islamic states will continue to trade with Russia and others will do so via the black market. You think Germany and Europe has an alternative to Russia energy? Your 3rd point is laughable. How many countries have Russia invaded for no reason in the past 2 decades compared to the US and her NATO allies? If anything, most countries will begin their own uranium enrichment program with the aim of having their own nuclear weapons... 1 Like |
