Not true.
The 2023 factor is what's playing out. They know they'll need the populace to return to the red chamber and as such they are doing everything possible to create a good image for themselves at the last minute

They should also permit individuals to generate electricity. There are Nigerians capable of generating electricity. They will make money and more people will get electricity. It will be a win-win situation.

It's the same thing we are taking about, Edo state for example generates 24 hour electricity but it is only been used in govt offices and can't be distributed to individuals because of this stupid laws and licenses

It's disrespect that makes you guys lump lagos together as one city. It's foolishness of your kind. Lagos is a state made up of many cities. Ikeja, ikorodu, lekki ajah are all cities. Individually all are bigger than the yeye yahoo night club cities you mentioned. Then we bring in ibadan, abeokuta, Sango ota, akure, ile ife, oshogbo, ijebu ode, oshogbo, etc to rock uour party

Ss don't have human capital. Nor do they have the economic activity or ready market. SW have the following developments:

Dangote refinery
Eko antkatic City
Lekki deep sea port
Badagry sea port
Lagos Metro
Ibadan dry port
Lagos to Kano train that'll pass through more SW cities
Ekiti cattle ranches
Ondo bitumen refinery
Continuing Ogun industrialization

You naw nack it with stable electricity and state VAT, SS in total can't reach lagos talk less of SW.

The governors are not serious-they are the most clueless sets of people in Naija. If a governor has the capacity and man power to generate electric in his state, why will a governor have to wait for Abuja’s permission to do so? They’d point to the constitution as if they observe the rule of law in their day to day governance. They are lawless in many things, including trampling on the constitution (e.g local government autonomy) when it favors them, but when it comes to working for the people, they’d point to the limitations of the constitution to cover up their laziness and cluelessness.
With or without that law, Abuja would not even stop any state that has the wherewithal to generate power. If private individuals illegally run refineries for their own benefit and nothing is happening to them, a whole state government can damn Abuja and generate power for her citizens. Let Abuja do their worst (but I’m sure they won’t even oppose it). Our governors are just lazy and clueless !

In your mind you have made so much sense.

it's seriously capital intensive and any state that can afford it... people will pay heavily

Being capital intensive doesn't translate to expensive service unless you are referring to other service and not electricity.

If state generate power, it should be cheap because of huge number of customers. The idea electricity is not cheap is a lie to reap off gullible customers.
The cost of pumping water from my independent power is cheaper compared to when use PHCN, which is charging exorbitant bill for epileptic power

We are making gradual progress. This is why democracy is good, the constitution keeps evolving. Local governments have been given financial autonomy, the next step is for states to seek financial autonomy. We are making progress.

Yet people from all these places are packing themselves to ibadan, ogun state and akure looking for better lives. Let's not even talk about lagos. There's nothing in Delta, Asaba and Onitscha asides olosho work and dales girl. How many jobs posting do you see in these cosmetic cities? Come to ibadan let's show you life. Keep deceiving yourself on nairaland. Ikeja as a city pass all these places combined.

You don't have enough money to live in decent houses yet you're talking about paying for energy. Aside Lagos and those industrial estates at Ogun state boundary with Lagos, which other place in the SW do you think such could be viable? Don't even mention Ibadan because if the people there have enough purchasing power, most of them won't be living in those unsightly shacks or entering those small tuke-tuke buses.

FYI, Aba is already the first city in Nigeria to enjoy 24 hour power supply from a massive private company named Geometric and a much smaller one in Ariaria. If your region is viable for it, don't you think you would have investors already like Aba?

It's now we will know the actual poor and rich guys, not those fake oluwole crap from NBS.
