I once received a call from my cousin that she has given birth..I never ask about d gender....on reporting to my uncle he ask of the gender... that is when i knew i have puckup.
When my wife gave birth.... people ask after congratulations what is gender when i told them it is a boy they tend to expose more of their 32s in excitement & gives me a firm handshake like you are a champion!

Having a baby is hard work and people need to appreciate the Labor pain woman passthrough. Labor is one of the most severe pains which has ever evaluated and its fear is one of the reasons ladies does not want to marry.

Now, what I have observed so far whenever woman give birth, the next questions will be weitin u born? Na boy or girl? . To me, I think this is most annoying question. Why not congratulate the woman first instead of asking unnecessary questions.

Why some Nigerians like asking this question?

Have u ever thought maybe the person wanted a girl that’s why they asked??

Is giving birth to a boy harder than giving birth to a gal??

What wrong with asking??

This is an unnecessary post to complain about nothing. Giving birth is good news. Sorry, but you are the odd person here if you are annoyed about sharing good news.
And what has that preamble about the pains of child birth got to do with your topic?
Giving birth is a pride to womanhood, stop using it to score Victimhood points.
Embrace it.

Well in Nigeria we don't like to mind our business.

I even go as far as asking, she don carry belle?
May the lord help us from premium amebo.

You can take away preference from people...some prefer female children, others prefer male, especially in the case of the first issue...I see nothing bad in such question.

But also the appropriate thing is that you thank God for the person's life and the successful delivery of the baby and congratulate the woman before you ask that question.
Re: "Wetin You Born" Why people always ask woman this question by opribo(m): 4:01am On Mar 06, 2022
It is normal to ask because you hardly see a man with only girls happy. Only him can explain why, it is a deep pain that he cannot voice out but you only feel it when you are in that shoe.

May God give everyone boys and girls, there will be no envy.

That one is even good sef. I remembered when my wife had our 1st child, someone even went as far as asking me whether na CS or the other way. And the pesin na elderly woman in my family. I just ignored the question.

Na so some of my friends like to ask many questions like "how much you buy the car, how much be your house rent, how much for the land, how much for this, how much for that? As if them wan refund you the money. People should be minding their bizness and be sensitive to the kind of questions they ask. Monitoring spirits everywhere
Relax . You take every simple question as a sensitive question.

It's a Nigerian thing, we're all guilty of it.
It's a question being asked all over the world, but the way we asked ours as Nigerians come be like say,we be monitoring spirits.

Not all of us.

I wait for the person to conveniently tell me when they chose to or i get to know with time.
I ate asking people certain questions as i like minding my business.

I don born o, or my wife don born o. My response is "congratulations! hope mother and child are doing well?"

If you ask me same question, i don't answer or i tell you "a new born baby".

People have been asking that same questions millions of years before you were born.

Chances are, even you yourself, have been asking that same question.

But suddenly, you become WOKE and you now realize that a change MUST be made.

Well, sorry to disappoint you in your newly found WOKEISM nonsense, but that question will continue to be asked because there is absolutely nothing wrong with the question whichever way you look at it.

Nonsense. angry

Yes, but sometimes the baby's genitals may not be seen as a result of baby doing "shakara" and closing legs cheesy.
wow. My wife is pregnant and I've been browsing a lot of things. I even read that the baby's gender can be determined by the temper of the woman. That a male child makes the pregnant woman more aggressive. Because I'm really coping with a lot of stress from her pregnancy induced characteristics. She eats at odd hours of the night and everything is smelling to her. Now she's threatening that if I ever frown my face around her in the house that I will come back from work one day and find out that she has packed her things and run away. Next thing she'll start crying and I'll be begging her. She wants to eat anything I eat. She holds the dstv remote and starts testing all the channels one by one and she wont watch anyone for up to 2 minutes. Even all the programs she used to watch before. She will carry foam from the room to parlour to lie down. Next thing the tv is disturbing her she wants to put it off, my phone is disturbing her, the light is disturbing her. My laptop light is disturbing her. This is not how she was before the pregnancy. Please at what stage does this thing stop?

Honestly there is nothing wrong with the question. The problem is that Nigerians are overly sensitive to the gender of a child, so both sides are cautious of that question. Some ask for good reasons, others to know if you have finally given your husband a heir.

Abroad they start asking that question right from the second they notice the bump. My friend said she found it weird that even strangers would walk up to her, awww and ask “is it a boy or girl?” “Are you having twins?”
The Nigerian in her would sprinkle gallons of the Blood of Jesus.

I don’t ask. My own correct babe had a baby and I didn’t ask the gender or pictures. After two weeks she said “You get mind o. Oya see the picture”. grin grin Another friend said “Izzoû can suck breast!” That was the cue that the baby is a boy. Prior to that I never asked!

Oyibos don't ask, they do gender reveal parties and set forests on fire

They do. I have had more than one loved one abroad say they were asked directly. Also on a group, many Nigerian women in the diaspora said they were asked and it was a huge culture shock for them. So yes, oyibos ask.

When I had my first child a girl, I was asked what sex, I told them my wife gave birth to a human being.
My second child is a boy, I was called and congratulated for having full current this time. I only asked the caller(s) if their mother, or sisters were half current!

Giving birth is the second most painful thing a human can experience – The first is being burned alive.

lipsrsealed
False information:
The most painful thing humans can experience are:
1. Kidney stones
2. Being kicked on the testicle
3. Child birth
4. Being burn by fire
5. Bullet ant stings

Sorry papa, its pregnancy hormones that's dealing with her. It may either last through out the pregnancy or reduce as she goes along. All you have to do is bear with her. Everything disappears as soon as a woman delivers and becomes a story to laugh at eventually. Pregnancy is not an easy task

@bolded is old wives tale. Depending on how far along she is you can go along with her for a scan.

It is well with you sir

Exactly, as if they want to use the child.

Some will even ask you before congratulating u

My dear.. all child na child, to me, I think God give u what's the best. Asking questions is not necessary
There's nothing wrong in asking what a woman is delivered of. the only time it can be regarded as bad is when the question is asked in an insensitive and rude way with an intend to insult or disrespect. Aside that, it's good to know.

so the husband shouldn't know what his wife gave birth to?

He should but that should not be the first thing left to me... It should be asking after his wife and baby first. That's why I said men who have had girls and are looking for boys
