The ruling All Progressives Congress APC has dismissed a letter written to it by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) on the need to give the Commission a 21-day notice for its national convention slated for March 26.

Spokesman of the party’s Caretaker Extraordinary Convention Planning Committee CECPC, Barr. Ismaila Ahmed disclosed this at a news conference Friday in Abuja.


He said the party had earlier intimated the commission of its intent to conduct its national convention on February 26 and that what is now required for its new date of March 26 is simply a notice of an adjustment and not a fresh 21-day notice.

Is there a law that says you must issue a fresh 21days notice for every postponment? It makes common sense to do a follow up letter to the initial one already sent if there's a postponment.

However, I'm amazed that Buni didn't think it wise to do the needful since the last time it was postponed. I'm beginning to believe those who said Buni and his committee never wanted a convention.

“In furtherance to Article 85 of the Electoral Act, 2010 (as amended) and compliance with Section 12(6) of our party Constitution, we hereby write to notify the Commission that our great party, the All Progressives Congress has scheduled to hold its Zonal Congresses on Saturday, March 26, 2022.

“Kindly arrange for your officials to monitor the exercise accordingly. While hoping to receive your co-operation, please accept the assurances of our highest esteem,” the notification letter read.
