Hope those clamouring for privatization of Nigeria government facilities are understanding the game now.....same everywhere.

Apart from the fraud allegation, I believe the west understand that it is suicidal to sell your government facilities to a foreign company run by their government... especially facilities/business that would be running in your country...... controlling a very large chunk of your economy.......

The fundamental error of Nigerians government with the constructions of Airport terminals and railroads by CCECC. The aftermath is slavery, security threats, compromise sovereign integrity, shared economic power etc.

Dangote had better invest his money on Eyimba or Kano pillars and stop dreaming of owning Arsenal, it's better the corrupt money from Africa remains in Africa.

I agree. Britain knew about the deal and how he made his money buy they allowed him to invest in the Uk. The government have benefitted through taxing etc.

Same with Thaksin Shinawatra, former prime minister of Thailand from 2001-2006. He disappeared from Thailand after being overthrown and indicted over allegations of abuse of power and corruption.

He invested in the Uk, bought Manchester City and started their resurgence. He was the one that sold to the present owners, The Abu Dhabi United Group.

There are lots of corrupt people from Africa and especially from Nigeria, Asia, Eastern Europe hiding their loots in London.

That's rich , especially coming from a state-owned news outlet whose government has ruled that a certain african nation should pay a U.K company without a known address in said african company some 9 billion pounds as damages for project terminated before it started , because ironically , the government found out like russia after the sibneft deal that the process of awarding the contract was fraudulent and pulled the plug .Thick as thieves , these brits .
Morning all ,have a great day

Comradewhy:
How else do you think most Russian oligarchs made their money?
There was absolute chaos in 1990-ies in Russia, no proper bookkeeping, no one could tell for sure what was where and how much. To put it more precisely, almost no one. Those who did and had good connections simply stole billions.

Some of them took over the existing infrastructure built during Soviet times practically for free. Some of this infrastructure were ports, oil terminals, railroads and so on.
Back then In Soviet Union all companies were state owned. When Russia turned to democracy all those companies were sold to certain people for extremely cheap prices and so in a blink of an eye they became oligarhs.
Most are fantastically corrupt individuals.

Edit:some are already disturbing me about Russia being a communist country/practicing communism.
There is a difference between democracy and communism which is an economic system.

Democracy is primarily a political system while communism is primarily an economic system. Democracy and communism can exist together, in exclusion of one another, or neither may exist.

Nothing about modern Russia is communist. It is not a classless society where all property is communally-owned. It is a capitalist society wherein people own private property, businesses make profits, and workers are paid wages.

Russia is technically a democracy because its leaders are elected, but it's very flawed democracy as elections are rigged and opposition is stifled.
Simple please understand that.

Bought from government: $250m in 1995.
Sold back to government: $13000m in 2005.
Profit: 13000 - 250 = 12750.
$12,750,000,000 in just 10 years!
That's $1,275,000,000 million in a year.
That amounts to $106,250,000 in a month and an average of $3,541,666.67 every day.
In an hour, the amount is $147,569.44 which is $2459.49 in a minute or $40.99 per second!!
At the official rate of 415.32 naira to a dollar, it means he was making 17,023.97 naira every second for 10 straight year!
Hold on a sec...
17,023.97 naira per second is just the amount from the sale of the firm.
How much money did he make from operating the firm itself within that period?
It's a gas company oo!!!
I guess we'll never know.
MONEY!
MONEY!!
MONEY!!!
nice break down. He's made hell lot of billions.

Roman Abramovich: New Evidence Highlights Corrupt Deals and Bribery NEW YORK, N Y – As Russia’s most famous businessman, Roman Abramovich is known for his opulence, but he also happens to be known for being very, very good at greasing palms This has become evident as his latest alleged crime has come to light, but his former business partners and associates have only been able to share information with prosecutors after he was forced to cut them out of the action The latest revelation is one of the most serious that Russia’s investigative agencies have been able to make since the “Firtash Affair” came to light back in 2008
