It mustn't have an English name.
I believe it should have a befitting pidgin English name we can all identify it by.

Its all over my town, in the East. There is even a very popular bus stop in my town named after this wonderful plant elemental called Ukwuudala.

it is called African cherry.

I grew up calling it "cherry". I always thought that was the English name...just seeing this African apple stuff. Some how odd...

All I'm trying to say is, we, on our part, mustn't give an English name to everything we have.

If a foreigner -seeing it for the first time- should ask what is that?, I should be able to confidently say it's called udara in my language without feeling the need to "break it down" further.

. And what is wrong with English people giving it a name just like Africans give local names to things of English origin. Trivialities
